Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am going to miss being their greatly.
With any luck it may inspire someone to do the same thing in the southeast.
From the looks of that map (that I can't find anymore) there wasn't vey many propeller users
in the area of Georgia.
I've had a few people ask about soldering permissibility...
I just got clarification from the Community center...
We are allowed to solder in one location. I'll setup a special table with a protective cover.
We are requested not to generate a lot of smoke, so you'll have to go flux-less. :) Leave
your can of flux home..
I'll be making the trip this weekend to lay out tables, some may find themselves sharing a
table because of the bigger-than-expected turnout. Don't let this discourage you from
bringing projects to demonstrate/display.
Also, I've added PropelIX and NorthStarMachining to our list of official guests/demos.
Wizard and I just got back from Norwalk. We had a chance to do the final onsite planning today.
According to Wizard, my fears of "not enough room" are unfounded as we were able to setup
60+ chairs and still have room for ten tables. :) Both of us have come back hyped and ready to go!
Another surprise as well. We are invited to use the aquatic center.
$6.00 Adult/$4.00 Student (payable to the Front desk, Norwalk Rec)
It is a large, heated, indoor swimming pool. So those with family can pack their trunks.
(I know that my son Matthew will be excited about this.)
We also have permission to plug an access point into a network jack in the office next door.
So while we did not test it, Internet access is highly probable.
Almost everything is set. Looking forward to seeing all of you in two weeks!
OBC, have our stuff, and will be packing it off in the post to you on Monday or Tuesday ;) so you should get it in plenty of time ;)
I would like to add that if anyone forgets to bring something electronic or otherwise, the Community Center is located within blocks of retail stores and the favorite Rat Shack. I can't wait to meet some of the very people I chat with on this forum. See Ya in two weeks.
Alright - I got my flights confirmed so I know for sure I will be attending the expo. My brother may be coming too!
For those bringing equipment, I thought I would throw out a reminder that you might want to bring power cords and outlet strips. We should be cautious though with the distribution of power. I have seen events similar to this get in trouble because of daisy chaining power strips.
I hope the Internet connection is a go.
Any pre-Expo dinners planned? I am trying to decided when to arrive in Norwalk on Friday, I was thinking late evening but if a group wanted to get together for dinner, I am game.
I agree on a "get together" dinner.
I'll probably arrive Friday night as well.
It would be nice to meet everyone before the gig.

Wizard and I have discussed the power issue. There are around 6-8 outlets around the room,
and due to the low-voltage nature of the Propeller, it is a minimal concern. I'll second the
request not to stack surge strips, and we'll attempt to have a lot of this worked out before
everyone arrives. It will be a very busy day for our crew, so I'll probably skip the
night-before dinner. You'll find many good places to eat within a mile of the Expo center.
Also, I plan to bring a few monitors with me, so there will be at least two or three composite
screens on hand. Is there need for VGA?
I need an web account w/FTP access which can host webcam images from the Expo.
The cam will be set to upload a new image every min, and I'm sure there will be a
reasonable server load from those who couldn't make the expo.
I'll need the account ASAP for testing purposes, and it can be removed the day after.
Request filled.. (Thanks Brian @ uController.com)
I need a volunteer to bring a camera and video tape portions of the event.
I've done an evaluation of our camera/capture gear and it's just not up to this task.
If someone has one of those digital units that shoots directly to video format,
it would be perfect for easily getting the video to Youtube after the event.
PM me if you can supply either of these. Thanks!
Request filled.. (Thanks to schill)
If you have a camera and want to take pictures and video, go for it!
I'm sure all media from the Expo will be appeciated by the group..

Would it be possible for you to send a mass bcc email to all the people that have registered. If you could then post to this thread once you've done that, anyone who thought they'd registered but didn't get an email would know they haven't actually registered.
I thought I registered a long time ago, but now I'm not sure.
I know, more hassle just before the conference is all you need....
I still have need of an item that has not arrived yet..
If you have a 5x5-10x10 portable projection screen, please PM me.
I've had one promised that I'm starting to have my doubts about, but I will purchase one if need be.
(Wizard has large sheets of white paper, but I'd much rather have a real screen.)
Request Filled: Thank you Jim Fouch for backing me up on this!
If you have one and don't mind bringing it, please let me know or I will be purchasing one next week.
Looks like we have reservations for the Parallax giveaways full as of tonight.
(Although late registrations will still be eligible for the drawings!)
I'll be tying down a few last min details this week and we'll be ready to party next Saturday!
There's some really awesome stuff in the works! While we may do this annually, this will be
a one-of-a-kind event!
Do you have a need for a computer Projector and Screen. I have both I could bring for anyone who would like to demo something and needs a projector. It XGA (1024*768) resolution and should be able to display video output from the Propeller (Composite & VGA).
The screen is not too big, but would be pretty nice for showing a demo to many people.
I expect to arrive in Norwalk in mid-afternoon (2-4) Friday, and will be staying at the Econo Lodge. I would welcome a pre-Expo dinner on Friday, and a post-Expo dinner on Saturday would also beat eating by myself ! FWIW, I intend to get an early breakfast on Sunday and start my drive home immediately afterwards.
I'm busy transferring my registration data to a spreadsheet so that Becky can
take your money and give you goodies quickly at the door. :)
Some of you have requested to be on my list using your forum name or first name.
I've sent PM's and emails to these people so that I can get your last name down.
Also, I have a mystery "KEN" who has made it to my list without a last name.
(Not sure how he got there, so if this is you, please contact me again.)
I want to make it very clear that if you are a Propeller-based vendor,
you are more than welcome to bring items for sale. (This includes
items which work with the Propeller in some way or another.)
Back issues of certain electronics magazine would be interesting as well.
Unsubtle hint: I'd love to see some SpinStudio Stuff, Parallax, and Bean's
stuff available for sale for those who would like to save shipping. :)
It's my hope that this will help offset some of the costs for those of you
coming from a distance. (Like Brian & Brian <smirk>)
Also, if you have items that you've purchased for experimentation and
need to unload them for other experiments, feel free! I've got a
now one-of-a-kind video headset that will go this way.
There is a limitation on table space, (10-11 8' & 12' tables max, but we'll find
a way guys. Warning: Anything left behind of value to be added to my
collection :)
I'm bringing all my stuff....I'll have a Expo special on the SpinStudio mainboards for $15, since most everyone is getting free DIP Propeller's at the door, I will omit them from the kit and lower the cost by $15.
I will have limited supplies with me. I may sell out before the end of the show.
I also plan to bring many parts boxes with me, so if someone needs a part at the soldering table, feel free to stop by and see me.
I've got some stuff to leave on the freebie table as well. Including some back issues of Nuts and Volts. The wife is always asking why I need so many old magazines that I've already read.
One question about the freebie table - items unrelated to the Propeller welcome? I some PIC related items that are never used, but someone might find value in.
