Hey OBC and others,

We want to particpate by supporting the unofficial Prop Expo NE. Provided we know the number of visitors ahead of time, we agree to provide the following per person:
• (2) Prop Proto Boards
• (1) Prop Plug
• Catalog
• Ping))) Ultrasonic Sensor
• (2) Propeller DIP chips

For door prizes we'll provide the following:
• Hydra Kit
• Propeller Education Kit
• 3" NTSC/PAL mini display
• Sensors (we'll choose a half-dozen)
• Boe-Bot

We will also agree to sponsor lunch for the crowd. Contact me off-line for that budget (depends on whether or not we're stuck with hotel catering, which could be a cost issue). And feel free to modify the above list for·products that may be of more interest to the group.· I just want to let you know that we'll assist to make this a productive·event for the·participants.

Jeff - what will the schedule during the day be like. Originally you mentioned morning activities then free time the afternoon for families to go to area attractions. Sounds like from the official website though that things will be going on 9am-8pm. I don't want to miss anything!

But count me in!

I'll be bringing some door prizes along also!

@Brian,

Because we have the facility for one day, instead of the original plan for a day+1/2,
I'm planning to run this from 8am(setup)-8pm(packup).

I figure that families may visit some of the various attractions on Saturday, and
then Sunday will be wide-open to join your family. IIRC, Cedar point opens at 8am
Satuday, and 10am Sunday.

Expo schedule is tentatively as follows... (subject to adjustment)

8AM Setup for Demos and folks who brought project to work on.
9AM OFFICIAL OPENING
NOONish (lunch provided by Parallax)
1PM-4PM (Various Demonstrations / Live Work / Socializing )
6PM BREAK FOR DUTCH DINNER AT LOCAL ESTABLISHMENT (TBA)
8PM BREAKDOWN
9PM CLOSE

This will be a ACTION PACKED day. Bring project to work on,
(pack and bring your workshop if it suits you) Bring items you
want to sell, Bring stuff to give to the "Freebie" table

A freebie table at the UPNEE event? Wow!

I think we can help there! You should see our "Expensed Stock" collection at Parallax. Provided you agree not to RMA back to us some of our expensed inventory, I'll send a box of it along too! It includes functional product, RMA returns, manufacturing failed units, things we couldn't sell, etc. It's easy to find development boards, wire, connectors, modules, displays, etc.

Add a "freebie table box from Parallax" to our official sponsorhip! One man's junk is another man's treasure!

@Ken,

I'll call you early this next week, as I expect to have some idea of the lunch options by then,
personally, I wouldn't have a problem with a quantity of pizza and softdrinks. I had
already planned to make sure there was plenty of drinks (soda, juice, water) on hand
for everyone for the day.

@Gang:

Keep those emails coming if you plan to attend! I have a growing list of
door prizes and demos! The PropGFX Team just committed to send....
(I'll let you guess!) 3 doorprizes! :)

I might be able to bring a projector. It is somewhat old and not very bright, at 800x600 resolution and composite input. But its rental is free and I don't think many demos really need 1024x768.

Would bringing a couple projects like the LED matrix be considered a demo? And, will demoers have to present? I am definitely coming! roll.gif

@tpw:

Yes, to bring your projects to demonstrate for everyone is considered a "Demo"
This is not a trade show, and I do not expect corporate type presentations.
This is informal..

To clarify, the three-fold intent of the UPENE is to:

1.. Allow as many as are able to meet in the real.
2.. To promote the Propeller, sharing ideas.
3.. Have a fun time in the company of like-minds.

Anyone who wants to demonstrate their Propeller related project is *welcome*
to do so. If standing in front of 25-60 people isn't your bag, then bring your
project anyway and set it up on a table and talk to people 1-2 at a time as people
mingle. If you remember the 'Woz had a problem doing presentations, and that
was his approach to sharing his ideas. :)

I've attended several of the "Commodore" retro Expos for a few years,
(Some might recognize that UPENE is patterned after their format.)
and believe me, the fun part is seeing the person you've been chatting with for
the last year and they DO NOT look as you imagined..

@ Baggers,
No doubt the phrase from "Road house" will be heard often.
"I thought you would be bigger"
One of the companies I work with is done on-line and by phone, and the only person I have meet in person was my trainer.
The mental images I've formed of all the different people is firm in my mind, but I know I'm fooling myself.
From the sexy dispatch voice to the rough disgruntled supply guy, I can't imagine how my little world would be blown apart by an actual meeting.......!

Make it a mascarade ball! I'll be easily identified by the three cups of coffee I'll be holding after driving to OHIO!

Yes, I'm working on that.. As long as people continue to pre-register with me, I will grab them for tags.

While my avatar isn't really me, it does look very close to pictures from my own youth.

OBC,

Being different is important.

We have a little town about 10 miles away, whose only claim to fame is that it has a memorial to our fallen heroes in the Middle East. Every year about 50,000 people come to town for a biker event. Imagine... 50,000 people and 8 cops... and there is never a problem.

The Propeller is going to be around for a long time. Your meeting could turn into a real bonus for the good people of Norwalk.

I hope that everyone within 8 driving hours makes a real attempt to show up and support this important meeting.

I would encourage you to have your local radio station do some live broadcasting the meeting location.... This will also give you free local advertising. You'd might be surprised by how many locals will show up....just to see what all of the excitement is about.

Congratulations.

Rich
