Coordinate your efforts with parts-man (Brian). I've asked him to take the lead on that setup
as I will be working with Rebekah to get everyone signed in quickly as possible.
There is a television in the room which we will use for the IRC setup. Based on the success
of the live-video test earlier, I'll be shooting for the IRC setup to be reasonably close to the camera
so that we have two-way communication.

@twp-man - sure, I'd appreciate that. I'll be setting up my stuff too, so if you'd like to help out with that, it'd be great.
My son and I will be at the pool in the hotel soon after we get there friday night, maybe we'll see you there. (after 7-8 hours of driving, the pool will be the first place I wanna go. (That's why I picked the Best Western, Indoor pool and wireless internet.))

Dang, I can't believe I will be missing all of this. I'll be without internet this weekend :(.
Would it be possible to have an archive video for those who won't be around to watch the live feed on Saturday? I believe UStream allows broadcasters to record their live stream.
yep... not done yet, but shaping up very nicely. You know idea of six degrees of separation? We are down to two. You need to nail down a spec. All I know for sure is that it has to have some flavor of femtobasic and a keyboard. I'll be leaving the Chicago area around 2PM... so I probably won't make dinner.
Just a reminder, I will be in the lobby at the Econo Lodge at 6 this evening. Anybody who wants to join us is welcome. Now I have to secure the computer an drive for 7 1/2 hours.
sailman58 - I don't know if you will get this in time, but I will try and meet you tonight. It will be my brother and I. We are leaving from MI in a couple hours and plan to arrive for dinner around 6 with you guys.
About a week ago I talked to OBC and suggested setting up a web site with a live blog and way to link to all the other content (pictures, YouTube, ustream, etc). I setup http://propellerexpo.com/ but my time is dwindling. Tonight or tomorrow morning I will get a couple accounts setup so people can post throughout the day from my laptop or other computers that might be at the Expo. It looks like I am getting this done at the last minute and might miss the boat. So, in the future maybe this site can be used for other Propeller Based Expos and the info and registration and such can be done on the site.
Have a lot of fun!. I do not know if was planned or not, but some kind of contest for projects developed at the expo should be in place , a la Assembly'9X.
I have checked in at the Econo Lodge and have scouted the location of tomorrow's event. I will wait a bit for those who have said to expect them for supper. I have also warned the desk clerk of our plans so he won't think he is being invaded !
Wow, page 11. This has to be one of the longer threads.

I called the expo location today to make sure that the person

I found a message on my machine tonight with the words,

a DHCP server for us to connect an AP to.

needing early access to setup their demos, etc is invited to join us

Is there enough interest in the UK to organise an Expo ( not that I'm volunteering to do that ); I'm wondering if there's even enough Propeller users in the UK to make it feasible ? I think I count four or five Brits on this forum but there could be more.
Microchip I believe used to run Technical Seminars where the price of attendance included free development kit. Saving on shipping costs and mark-up could make that an attractive model with an Expo on the side. To be successful and work though I think it might be better driven by Parallax as an international marketing exercise.
Have Parallax considered taking the Propeller on a World Tour ?
I'd go if there was one over here, I'm sure Coley would go too, not sure how many UK prop heads there are :) be it done by Parallax or anyone else.
hope your all havin a good time guys, really can't wait to see the vids ; )
I think the Expo that OBC has pulled together is totally excellent work. I guess for an Expo to work within the UK would require dealer support, don't think we have this yet. The UK main distributor of Parallax products seems to have gone to sleep, totally
outdated website, no online ordering, no new Parallax products. This is the sorry state we seem to be in at present. Seems the best option is to purchase from other European Countries where they take the supply issue more seriously.
I think is more than 5 Brits around here, we probably don't tend to shout too much....and hence are just easily over looked.
Put me down for 10 tickets (Money up front) when you get this moving forwards. Pleased you have decided to organise this!
We are in the early steps of putting together a 16-city tour and the UK is absolutely on the top of our list of places to visit. The UK is a very sore spot for me because the last major marketing effort I drove (Stamps in Class) didn't take hold in the UK and we didn't push it. We were too busy here in the homeland and neglected the UK. While Parallax became common in USA and Canadian classrooms we were still unknown in the UK; our excuses included poor distribution, unfavorable exchange rates, and products considered too expensive in light of PIC/compiler alternatives. I won't let this happen with the Propeller. We will improve our distribution in the UK and ensure that you're able to get our products just as easy as our domestic customers. We had our hands full here at home but we forgot our key English-speaking friends.
We need to carefully craft our seminars so we attract the customers on the forums, as well as those who are not. Parallax's mix of hobby, education and commercial (we must attract more commercial users to survive on Propellers) makes such seminar content more important than ever. Our seminars must have value for everybody.
I've been on the sidelines watching the UPNEE unfold, wondering what we can learn from this even that would be suitable for Parallax-run seminars. I've got a great mole at the UPNEE today (surprise: my brother :) who may bring back some first-hand experience. He'll probably come back with Prop II design nearly finished after getting over-excited about the expo.
I'm interested in any ideas you might want to share with us about Parallax-run seminars, including price, instructor, content, hardware, day of week, locations, etc. I'll probably start another thread for that subject.

P.S. The reason we haven't already put together these seminars together is because I've been busy the last 10 months restructuring our internal inventory and manufacturing processes. This effort followed ten years of poor internal management on my part in this specific area, so I took it upon myself to make it right. Additionally, there was a new surge of babies being born around Parallax so four of our key staff were absent for extended periods.
Ken, this is fantastic news :), I'm sure hippy will agree ;) I for one would definitely go to the UK tour ;) especially to get to meet some of the Parallax bunch in person ;)
oh and congrats to the 4 new parents at Parallax ;) best of luck in the following years you'll need it lol :)
PS, parts-man, take the lenscap off first ;) lol
Ken, I'll agree with what Baggers said, I tend to introduce my pals into the Propeller by giving them a Protoboard, they are always stunned by how easy it is to get to grips with.
Alas though they are mainly PIC users in the whole and like most people reluctant to change, I'm sure I could drag a few along though
We donated a couple of Hybrids to a local school and they went down a storm but we haven't pushed any further with it due to other commitments, the teachers at the school found that getting TV images out of a microcontroller was much more interesting to the students than just flashing an LED, I'm sure robotics with the boe-bot would have the same effect
Regards,
Coley

I saw that "record stream" option in Ustream.
Not sure if it records to the local drive or to the website, but I'll look into it.
