The guest list now totals 15 with additions coming into my email daily.
Keep'em coming! I'd like to see at least 25-40 by August.
Also, if someone (or a couple people) would like to do a mini-seminar
off in a corner, say 30min. Pick a topic that you understand well and
teach 5-10 people how to, do self-modifying code, or debugging your
spin code with hyperterm, or propterminal. You decide, just post
your intention to this thread, and I'll add it to the official list.
Thanks for the warning Coley!
They say people resemble their pets, ..... well I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
@OBC
I'm having a little trouble with the misses here now that it's an all day event. She doesn't want to be in a strange place all day by herself. Am I the only one in this shape or have you had similar complaints.
Could be a chance for some side action somewhere up their that the non-propeller types could find some mutual interest in!
In one of the early messages the question came up if all the topics were going to be strictly on the Propeller or if it was going to be open to some of the other Parallax products like the SX family of chips. Each of the processors has their place and the SX chips are great for making intelligent devices/sensors which the Propeller can talk to. Would this be something of interest?
No I haven't had concerns about spouses.. Generally, the spouses find each other
in the other Expos, having geek husbands in common, they tend to wander off
in together mass.. :) <smirk>
As stated earlier, I don't think ANYONE in my guest list would mind if the SX, or BASIC STAMP
guys brought their hardware and showed up as well. Personally, I'd love to see what the
SX and STAMP can do. Naturally, UPENE (Unofficial Propeller Expo NE) might become
UPENE (Unofficial Parallax Expo NE) in presence, but I don't mind a bit!
I'm an 8 hour drive. So I'm driving out friday with my 6 year old. Because of the change in format on Saturday from the original plan...I decided to take monday off from work also so that I can take my son to Cedar Point or the Water Park. He'll probably have fun at the show too! What 6 year old doesn't like robots!

Hey, is anyone bringing along a Hydra? If so I'd like to finally get a chance to try out the network port on my hand wired version of it that I built from the book. It is the only part I haven't tested. It would also be nice to checkout one of the new Hydra Extreme 512K SRAM cards if someone is going to bring one to the show.
I was going to try and make it to the Sensor show in Chicago but instead am going to come to this one. A 2.5 hour drive each way and no hotel vs at least a 5 hour drive each way + Hotel for the Chicago event certainly was a factor!
@RobotWorkshop
I can bring my HYDRA and HX512K card.

I have in my hand the signed/returned paperwork for our reservation for Aug 23rd!
I drove up to Norwalk today and completely scoped out the facility.
They say we could seat 80 in the room, but it looks very comfortable for 20-40.
There is plenty of power, but you will want to bring extension cords and multioutlet
surge strips if you are planning to setup Propeller gear.
Norwalk appears to be a very affluent community, and the community center
that we will meet in reflects it! It's a very nice facility. With the two story
indoor "aquatic center" connected to the building I was starting to feel like
I was at a resort!
I took pictures so I can put together some location maps.
I'll be posting a parking/floormap so everyone will know how to locate the
meeting room once you arrive.
Wow. The interesting things one finds on page 3 of the forum these days. OBC is hosting an "Expo" only 25 miles from my front door? And I didn't miss it? Who'd a thunk it? Maybe I'll bring the Propeller volt-amp-freq meter. Sounds like a great time, OBC. See you there.
Hi Paul! I'll send you an "official" email tonight when I plug you into the list.
Yeah, 25 miles away is almost close enough to join TOMIG when we all gather again
in the fall. (We lost 5 members (one family) to football for the summer. ;)
Well gang that's a total of 25! (Lost one over the last week, but added two this weekend)
WOW! So what exactly is "unofficial" about this get together? You got people coming to share, you got food, you got prizes and goodies, you got a Parallax employee, what more could you want? Maybe I should tele or video conference in.

@Ken: You guys just keep me in continued shock!
Parallax showing up: Pressure is on now! :)
BTW gang we are around (depending on a couple spouses coming to the expo)
at 27 on the guest list. So guys, talking the spouse into hanging out for her
protoboard & doorprize ticket isn't really fair. LOL :) :) :) (Just kidding gang!)
Hope I can bring my blood pressure down enough to enjoy the expo! heh!
Confirmed, I will be attending the NE Propeller Expo. The only concern I orginally had was that I will be in Maine the 9th - 16th, which means I will be crisscrossing the country 4 times in 3 weekends, but it's for a worthy cause so I'm there.
I don't have him on the "official" list yet, but we are nearing 40 people...
This keeps up and I may have to talk to Norwalk about opening up
another room for us!
I never took a "Public Speaking" class. Now I'm a little nervous about doing my presentation
No, seriously, this is great! Was all the announcing done in just this forum? It was mentioned that this was open to all Parallax customers, including STAMP and SX guys. Were they ever informed they were invited? Parallax is nice enough to provide them with everything they need to get started with the Propeller, just for showing up, it's a perfect time to gain some new Propeller users!

I'm sure we can still get people on the official RSVP list up to a couple weeks before
given Parallax will need to know how many Propeller kits to bring. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Ken.)
Had a couple changes in spousal/kid attendance, but we're still hovering around 40 which
is fantastic! (do other people still use that word?!) as far as I'm concerned.
This "unofficial" expo really looks rather "official" by the additions of it to the Parallax homepage.
(Thanks for adding to my jangled nerves about this, Parallax. <smirk!>
I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone in the flesh!
Be sure and bring projects, as Parallax (I assume we'll make Paul the judge) will be
giving some prizes away for the best projects!
BTW, Still out on a projector screen, and possibly a small amp/mic setup.
Has anyone got either of these things they wouldn't mind packing?
