Wow! 1971.74 miles if I drove it. Wish I had the time, that's a nice road trip...
Yeah he was hitching a ride with us there, but potentially flying back to IA as we have a longer trip after the Expo (he hasn't told us that he isn't coming with us, so this is teh first we've heard of it)
I'm pretty sure I will be there. I need to confirm my ride but so far so good. On a side note, I am thinking about bringing my project. I am not sure if we will have room in the car for our luggage, my project, keyboard and amp. I am pretty sure that I'd be using more than 350ma LOL. There is always the motel room!
My wife and I will be flying in from Des Moines IA. I would have preferred to drive because I enjoy seeing the countryside, but we just dont have enough vacation time.
Sadly, I won't be able to bring any of my robots, but I'll bring a couple of videos.
Joe - please do! After almost a year of communicatin' about it, I'd like to see it with "mine own eyes".
I'll be bringing mine...whether or not I've nailed down the dreaded "TICK!" And, as a geetar slinger, you could provide some input as to the GUI "friendly-ness".
DJ, I doubt I will be bringing my guitar. I got sidetracked from finishing my switcher, and started playing with synth stuff. I suppose I should finish that up but... ooo something shiny!
Anyway I can't wait to check out your progress. So excited!
Regrettably, I must cancell my my visit for this year. Similar to last year, too many business things are needing attention, So for anyone who is waitlisted, the good news is that I will be cancelling my Staybridge suite reservation today also.
Matt, Is anything more formal required to advise Parallax of this turn of events? I'd hate to be considered just a no notice "no show".
Hope you all have a hoot, as it's bound to a bunch of fun -as usual. If there will again be an expo next year, I might again be able to join the fun then.
Hate to see all these last-minute cancellations, but life happens. Sorry to say that I'm still coming, Matt! And I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there. I'll be buried in robotics projects until then. I was coding my BS2 printer font until 5 am this morning!
erco, I was up past 5am this morning too getting stuff ready for my trip up there. I'm supposed to leave tonight for the first part of my trip, but that might turn in to tomorrow morning...
Regrettably, I must cancell my my visit for this year.
I hate to see these last minute cancellations too! So sorry to hear that pjv! Nothing "formal" required - no worries!
if there will again be an expo next year,
Are you kidding me? If it were up to me, we'd do this is in the Spring and Summer! We've started to build the "infrastructure" (power distribution, network requirements, logistics) for this First Expo. I can't imagine not doing it again (and again) since we'll only need to "deploy at a moments notice" next time - this time however is a "race to get it all together!"

PS: Plus, my 11 year old son (who wants to go to "inventing college") will be selling his "Limited Edition First Annual Robotics and Microcontroller Exposition Mugs" --- What good would a "First Edition" be if there's no Second :thumb:

Might make them more valuable because of their rarity!
But let's not do it that way. Much better to have this as at least an annual event.
Here's a writeup about the First (and I think last) International Robot Congress & Exposition, held in Albuquerque in 1984. And I was there! (Probably why they had so few.)
Scroll down to the bottom and dig the guy in the three-piece hawking Polaroid ultrasonic sensors. We've come a long way since then, baybee! (In both Pings and suits.)

Just saw this. Sorry you can't make it, Duane! You were def one of the big attractions! You will be missed. Next year, Pal.
Thanks, erco.
It's one of those times when it's "How can I possibly miss this?" and "How could I possibly go?" happening at the same time.
The good news is, I've made a lot of progress on my robots as I've tried to get them ready for the Expo.
I should have even more of them (robots) next year. (Can I build the centipede yet?)
Peter ...
Peter,
I thought you were hitching a ride.

I'm ready to have my IQ lifted by association for a couple days!!! (my apologies to fellow coworkers, Jim and Scott).
...and a week to finish the project!!!

Well then, I think I'll bring one 'o mine.

I'm cancelling my reservation today also.
I'll need to mail my damaged PropBOE so Parallax can do a postmortem on it (I was going to bring it with me).
Thanks
