@Matt: Sometimes cool is dangerously close to dorky...
True. However, dorky can be effective.

I can see you wandering around the multitudes of Robotics Enthusiasts with a camera on your noggin - you wouldn't even know it's there... - and all those that can't make it to Rocklin, will be able to experience the flavor of being "erco for a day" with your interactions with all the attendees and kids especially.

What size hat do you wear?

Oh, suddenly I'm the guy wearing the camera hat?

    Hat size? XL. Huge. Monstrous.

Go figure. Lots of empty space inside my head. Loose things rattling around in there: relays, vacuum tubes & fahnestock clips.

erco is the perfect person to wear the hat at the expo! I would pretty much guess they everyone would get a great chance to look at EVERYTHING.

Why is it that people are always quick to sign me up for the dull, dirty, dangerous, and disreputable tasks?

This ain't my first rodeo... :)

To anyone flying to Expo, be sure not to leave any of your robotic stuff behind on the plane:

If you're flying in we could pick you up at the Lincoln airport - just let me know if you need a ride (it's only seven miles).

So.. do you just fold up the wings, and use hand signals?..
Seems like it would be a great advantage to fly over Kettleman city, instead of driving thru it...
I would be happy to skip over Los Banos...
Of course if I take the 99 instead, I could visit historic Oildale, and Chowchilla.
Then again, the 101 has beautiful Greenfield and Salinas to explore...

Oh well, all part of the fun, I guess.

All I know is that this fool has converted hard labor into a fist full of cash,
and you know what they say about a fool and his money...
Bill Henning, I don't even know what that is, but I am buying one.. WBA, bring Power Twigs by the dozens...
Everyone else, just get in line before it's gone...

Yup, I do! And this fool is coming armed also.

There's gotta be some deals at this event.

    Dang it!

This fool (me) wont be blowing a wad in Rocklin this year (not in person anyway).

The reasons for not going (health and job) have recently overtaken the reasons to go (fun and fun).

I was really looking forward to meeting everyone.

    I'll be there next year.

Duane, California is the Golden State, not because of some shiny metal, but because of all the Sunshine,
It's still snowing in Idaho isn't it? I recommend two full days of sunshine for you.. minimum.

Certainly your health is more important then some trivial task presented by an overbearing employer..
Rebel Duane, Rebel, and show the man who you really are...

Work will not make you any healthier, at least not the jobs that I get,
Unless mouse and rat poo under a house is some kind of magic healing elixar that I don't know about...
Maybe it's the Bat guano in the attic that keeps me doing seismic retro fits and remaining healthy.. relatively...

So come on Duane, come to california with a fist full of cash, and let your new heart feel the sunshine...

Here's the problem. I'm self-employed. Which some like to think means nobody is my boss, but it really means everyone (at least my customers) are my bosses.

I grew up in San Diego, California. I do like the weather down there.

Thanks for the invite; it's very tempting. I'll just need to wait for next year to make the trip.

You forgot to mention landing at Harris Ranch for lunch and a swim. The plane in my photo is a beauty but I just rented it.
New Cessna 182's rent for over $180 an hour now which kinda limit the trips to Big Bear for Sunday morning breakfast.

Tommy - you crack me up!

Don't spend all your cash here, save some for when I get back to Pismo this summer for Splash Cafe's Clam Chowder on the Beach at sunset.

Actually, two clarifications: 1: you mentioned there's another Clam Chowder that we should try, and 2) the "real show" comes AFTER sunset - as only the locals would know

Just thought I would mention ... there is a 24/7 "Mels" diner that serves breakfast that can be a blessing in disguise during odd hours of the night/early morning that is literally right around the corner from the Staybridge hotel.

    "Mels, the original" --> 38.798212,-121.292716

Hope to see everyone at the EXPO!!

I'll be driving about 747 miles to get to the expo, but that's because I'm not going directly there.
It's about 522 miles from My door to Parallax.

However, I know several people that will be travelling much farther... most of them will be on planes.

For driving distance, I'm guessing the Raffy's coming from Wisco(w)nsin will have the longest road trip.

I have spent quite a bit of time as copilot in a friends Mooney but never flown one. We were practicing instrument
approaches at long beach one day and the engine died about a half mile from the runway. There was a long silence
then he remembered to switch fuel tanks. I am too tall to fly them but they are great little airplanes.
