ScribblerKart and I are crying in our rootbeer that we can't be there.

Hey Whit- Bummer. However, I do believe that we'll be "broadcasting live", with "reporters in the field" though. I'll get more details on this- it's not my department. I do know that I'm supposed to be running a whole bunch of network cables and wireless through-out the parking lot area, so my guess is that we should hopefully have pretty good coverage.

My wife just told me that she would be willing to lead the mall tour(s). She has now learned the way. After being at the Expo for a while and "keeping me company", she's off to the car and goes auto-pilot to the Galleria.

Sounds great Matt! At least I can see you and erco argue about plywood and HDPE! Maybe Jess should wear a referee shirt and whistle.

All kidding aside, It looks like it will be a fantastic event and that lots could be learned. Not to mention fun, fun, fun!

December 1st seems a bit arbitrary. Parallax announced the expo here on January 6th, over four months in advance.
I work with a few hundred people. If I wanted the first week of January that would be only 4 weeks notice. It's not a date I pulled out of the air. That's when vacations are due by. Thanks for your understanding.

How far in advance do you have to post a request for time off?

    I do

At this point I think we're planning on Expo, at the very least, every year at the end of National Robotics Week. Personally, I'd like to see it more often (maybe later in the Fall too). But for right now, just plan on it being during NRW.

The cool thing is that we're in the process of developing all the logistical *stuff* (power distribuition, wifi, tents, fixtures, etc.) right now for this "First" Expo (that also incorporates UPEW concurrently). What this means for the future is that it won't be as difficult for us to put together the "Next one", because we'll have systems and experience already in place - making it easier to do from now on...

"...besides, I'm already happily married buddy, sorry!" ... same here :-) ....

"...and I hear there's a HUGE PARTY in erco's Presidential Suite at the Staybridge! I'm in!" - I know, I may have to crash on the floor, since I haven't made my reservation yet. <- trying to workout the logistics, and that's not happening very fast right now.

Here, I saved it for you,

I registered, but it looks like I won't be going. Work is getting in the way (again). If anything, it looks like I might need to travel to the other coast.

    Sweet Grue!

Schill - bummer :blank: but you'll be here in spirit, right? Also, we should have some web cam stuff going on, so you'll be able to participate in some of the 'happnens'...

I may have just gotten the last (Parallax rate) room at Staybridge, a King suite (+ kitchen) is all they had left.

FYI, there are more rooms available at Staybridge, but the special Parallax rate rooms are sold out, according to the lady I talked to. There might be a waiting list for cancellations...

EXPO Saturday coincides with the 100th anniversary of Titanic hitting the iceberg. I'm betting EXPO will be at least that memorable. And fewer casualties, ELEV-8 contest notwithstanding!

@Matt: Sometimes cool is dangerously close to dorky... I walk that line quite often, with varying degrees of success!
