I vote big cheese bus for bringing everyone from the coasts and midwest in! We'll have to swing down to pick up ElectromanJ and lostcauz too, and get some of our arduino friends on the bandwagon! Distance will no longer be an excuse!

I remember hearing rumors of Parallax being able to convince Staybridge to have a hacking room - we're hoping to get to meet/hangout/hack with folks there!

If you crash at Matt's, just be sure and bring your own a pillow ... the last slumber party that Matt had ...well, I shouldn't put him on the spot like that ... just bring a pillow :-)

Confirmed! Two nights, we have a complete conference room for whatever purpose we desire.

Staybridge provided it to our UPEW crew (that's you, all of you) because you've left such a nice impression.

Oh, and we buy the whole place pizza on Friday night. Didn't want to forget that. Once OBC gives us a human count we'll order up!

I don't have a basement, and you're the most honest person I know (two facts).

MattG - I think you're also staying at Staybridge with the rest of us savages, right?

Let's face it - this is about community as much as it is about the technology we all use and enjoy. I mean heck, even though vanmunch has "a very, very understanding wife" and Jason Dorie titles a thread "I love my CNC machine!" don't we all need a few more people with whom to share ideas, to collaborate, and to improve how we go about our efforts? I think so.

I think Parallax might just spring for warm cokes, mac & cheese and gas for an old yellow school bus shuttling all the east coast Forumistas out to the Expo....

    Can I paint the bus?

Where there are robots (and pizza), there always co-exists a fermented malt beverage which shall remain nameless. I trust this (much like a LiPo charger) will be allowed for responsible utilization?

Of course. Staybridge is a hotel with our very own conference room. Per company policy we don't buy fermented beverages for events, but you're welcome to enjoy your own. We've got the pizza, and I'll need to get a guest within Staybridge to give me a head count so we can order and deliver at a reasonable time.

The Parallax property is restrictive, however. The insurance policy for this event was very cumbersome, along with the City of Rocklin permit, notification of neighbors, Proposition 65 postings, liability release waivers for soldering, and various safety procedures for tours. All of these approvals could only be made more complex (and expensive) by selecting the "alcohol served" checkbox.

Not only that, but you'd have to rent more porta-potties. :)

FYI, I Staybrigde Suites has a 24 hour cancellation policy. As long as you cancel within 24 hours of you stay, you're not charged anything (now that I think about it, this is probably pretty common).

I think the rooms were $79 if you mention the Expo.

Why didn't someone mention free pizza earlier. Sure, I'll drive 682 miles for free pizza.

420 miles for me. You get the man-mile award.

    Unless I bring the family...

Are people's wives coming? If so, maybe they need a seperate function to attend, a robot widow support group? I met Tom_C's wife once. She and my wife compared notes and commiserated for quite a while.

Just yestday my wife (who will be attending) said "What will I be doing while you're talking to all those guys?" I think she suggested a crochetting Expo to run in parallel with the main event.

My wife will attend and work in the Parallax Store.

Many spouses like the nearby Galleria Mall. I've often seen them enjoy the EXPO like the rest of us, sometimes just doing their own projects. Raffy's wife Lana really likes the UPE events and they travel between them like [employed] Grateful Dead fans.

@Duane: In Reno I often see a "Guns and Dolls" type of exhibition, or "Motorcycles and Crafts". Sheesh.

Definition of commensurate: To reduce to a common measure.

to co-commensurate would be to do that with someone.......I don't think we want the ladies gathering together to do that!!!

Matt, you may have meant Commiserate: To feel sorrow, pain, or regret for; to pity

I could see them getting together to do THAT!

I may have just gotten the last (Parallax rate) room at Staybridge, a King suite (+ kitchen) is all they had left. So I'll have room to party in my suite. Time to build that Margarita-mixing robot.

    I'm halfway there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTuYd1jhP5Y

    Speaking of the Heat suit.
I have decided that I will bring its new add on . The HotPants ( not what you think they are ) with me .In Place of the suit .

BTW does anyone have a spare bed / floor ???:innocent:

Whew! The Merury Retrograde phenomenon ends April 4, so the Expo (and National Robotics Week in general) should go off without a hitch. ELEV-8-iators, relax!
