Pastrami isn't a problem on the food pyramid. Since it is sponsored by the Federal Government, there has to be a box on there for "Celebrating/Expressing/Exploring Cultural Diversity" any attempts to control the content, quantities or diversity of food you put into that box would be a Civil Rights violation under Title 42, Chapter 21 of the US Code. So, join the Church of Trans-Fats and you're good to go!!

I told him to put a half dozen aside.

    YES!

I had contact with the heretofore potential source in NC, and they said that the blueberry pie wasn't available in that state - :frown:

So I asked, why then are they listed in their stores inventory...awaiting an answer.

No guarantee. The Deli owner THOUGHT he remembered Blueberry...maybe he has a longing for this one also.

Contacted the store in NC (who were very friendly) and found that the Blueberry Pie had been listed by mistake! (sniff!)

I just bought Drake's cherry pie which I also had as a kid because this thread made me remember my childhood. Hostess had more pie.

    Ummm Yea http://theapronarchives.com/2010/07/12/hostess-fruit-pies/

There seems to be a difference in flavor availability based on geographical location. People go nuts trying to track these things down. I am serious. There are entire message board threads.

    Could they mean US?

PS I found a 2ed pie site...... looks like we are in the clear !( or the custard )

I never doubted that the sandwich actually had meat...it's that the meat was absolutely taste-less! When you MUST apply liberal amounts of sauce to generate flavor, something is very wrong.

Hostess and Interstate Bakery (Brands) are one in the same. My Hostess Pies on Saturday had Interstate on the back.

Thanks for taking one for the team by conducting a taste test of the "unknown" pie(s).

It looked like ExDxV had a robot rover on the case at http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?118634-Autonomous-robot-s-navigation&p=1114498&viewfull=1#post1114498 since his post reads, "Twinky rover and fruit". Sounded like an autonomous Hostess pie hunter/seeker to me. How SWEET would that be?

Parallax, forget the methane detector, we need a long-range sugar sensor that can see through mini-mart walls!

I have, as far as I remember, never eaten a Hostess pie in my life, and haven't even thought about them between the early 1970s and my first reading of this thread. But you've turned me into someone who now routinely checks the flavors whenever I go into a grocery store, convenience store, or gas station. And if I ever see one other than cherry, apple, or chocolate, you can be sure I'll buy it, eat it, and then race to report it on this thread. And I'm even sad about the demise of Fruit Pie the Magician:

What has the internet reduced me to?

Ate a blueberry bagel at Starbucks yesterday. Actually it was rather disgusting. The inside was more of a dull moldy gray color than blue. Why can't they just sell traditional onion bagels? Sadly, the only place in town that sells fresh onion bagels wants about $3 USD each and I don't have an oven to make my own.
