@buff1 is the hub memory address to read into. buffSize*4 is the size of the buffer (in bytes). sd.pread reads sequentially starting after the last byte read (or the beginning of the file if it's just been opened). mctrivia already posted the descriptive comments for the commonly used PUB routines.

So if I used pgetc instead could I get the information for a specific location in the folder? I haven't seen an example of that yet so I'm not sure how it all works.

There is no room left on the board for something so big as a uSD card reader.

well the main data bus can be connected via the header on the left of the photo.

on top and bottom you have connection to all other pins on each prop. i have designed the eagle layout to allow people to design daughter boards to plug into the module.

that is ok. i am not an expert on it either. there is lots that could be done with the board. there are 22x8=176 IO pins
32x8=256k Hub RAM
512x8x8=32768 Long Cog RAM
20x8x8=1280MIP @ 5MHz Clock

I could buy a netbook with better features than that for 200 bucks. But I guess thats just how it is in the hobbyist field. My dad complains about it all the time with his airplain, like when he spends 600 bucks to fix a door latch, or 1500 bucks to upgrade his radio.

Unlikely you'll be able to run windows, but something similar might be done.
"N" DIP propellers stacked together (with a clock driver, EEPROM, and possibly pull-up/down for IDs) would be cheaper and more flexible.

the fact it is so expensive and has limited applications is why it has never been made. only 1 person so far has shown any interest.

Yes Jazzed that could be done for a fun prototype but not practical in production. Is $200 practical probably not when a PC can be bought for the same amount.

Though if the good doctor get his AI working these boards could sell they use the same bus as him and cheaper then 8 dev boards.

I doubt that most people here care if it is a product or not just for proof of concept. Once some value is demonstrated, you would have more customers for a "product." You could always start writing about it in a magazine now to generate interest and fascinating amounts of skepticism though :)

Yes if I had the time and money to build it and come up with a cool app that used it I am sure I would have buyers. The only thing holding me back is the PCB is so expensive($400/panel) and I have bigger projects to work on at the moment. I designed it and had fun doing so. It can stay on the shelf until people have interest or I have more time and money to play with it myself.

The price would drop considerably with volume production. Until someone proves the value proposition, that will not happen.
When I'm finished my current 2 projects (one being very difficult), I'll make a prototype and play.

yes volume makes huge difference in price. I buy full reels when ever i can. if i can get through all the red tape with my current project i will have the funds to buy up reels in all parts and drop prices drastically.

idk about a full bossboard but i did find a aplication for your propmod sd and 1 x 1. It would be great if you made a board that instead of having a set number of 8 props on it could just be changed by adding your 1 x 1s and sd's to it.

Once prop 2 comes out, there will be no need for this board. The prop 2 will have about the same specs as 8 prop 1's, and 10 if you over clock it to 200mhz.
