We have permission to attach to the onsite network, so we'll have a wireless router setup just
like last year. I don't think they have large amounts of bandwidth, but it should be enough to
surf the web a little, check email, and taunt people on the forums. :)

That's great!! Although since he will be using the laptop, I will have to bring my "awsome" desktop programming computer and a monitor!

When does registration close? I'd really like to make it, but things have been really busy w/ work, and I'm scheduled to be travelling the week before (getting home on Friday)... I'm in the DC area, so I'm not sure if I'll be up for driving to my grandma's near Cleveland (6.5 hrs) late Friday night, then getting up early to drive another 2 hours to the expo. But I'd hate to come back early (very possible) and miss the show because I didn't register.

Thanks,
DogP

Sad news - unfortunately I think I will not be able to attend. I looked at my work load and at cost of flight and travel. I am super bummed about this. I wanted to attend the expo in Cali, but my relocation kept me away. I was tentatively planning to attend the NE version like I did last year, however it looks like things may get missed.

I hope things in my work load can change and if they do you bet I would show up. Sorry gang - no cool LED talks or China Shenzhen market photos this year to show off. Perhaps I can attend via on-line some how. Maybe I can attend by Skype.

I should be able to go. It just depends if I have the money or not. It really sucks being laid off.

I'm in the same boat, have the time, just maybe not the bucks... I live in NJ, would like to go though, just to see what its all about.

@Timothy-

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. Hopefully things change a bit and it works out. I know you've got one of the longest possible trips so it's not easy. Your talk last year inspired me to sign up for one this year.

If you have a short budget you can camp off one of the great lakes at East Harbor State Park. That can save you $100.

Hey Gang! Just an update!

At the current rate I'm receiving expo RSVP's, it looks like we'll be around 100 in Norwalk!
We'll have vendors on hand with Propeller related items, and great raffle items which we'll
be using to raise money for the American Liver Society (NE Ohio chapter).
Parallax has once again agreed to match our contribution! :)

Lunch and Dinner food is being planned for the event, so there will be no need to go
anywhere from 9am to 8pm.

Rebekah and I will be going up the night before to setup the first wave to tables and chairs.
Has anyone established a gathering to eat somewhere that evening?

OBC,

In an earlier message, I offered to meet anybody interested in supper on Friday in the lobby of the Comfort Inn at 6. I have not had any response yet. If somebody else wants to take over the event and base it in Norwalk, I will cancel my event and join theirs. I have received an OK from the Comfort Inn to use their lobby as a meeting point.

I'm pretty sure I'll be up there later than 6pm.

I'll be open to meeting somewhere for late drinks (non alcoholic for myself and Rebekah) and perhaps
a late snack. I expect that Rebekah and I will be done by 8:30-9:00pm at the Expo center.

I should soon be getting in an aditional 400 8-pin Mini Dins to sell at the expo, so don't order if you will be there!

P.S. I believe that is has been over 2 weeks waiting for them, so if they don't come don't be dissapointed; I still have 120 6-pins and I will be willing to trade them for some Propeller-related items!

I'm official, I just booked my hotel room at the Best Western in Norwalk. Coming in Friday night, but it's a 8 hour drive for me, I may not arrive soon enough to meet up for dinner.

Hey Bean,

That's about where I thought you were, but you have to be flying low to make that trip in 4 hours. I show almost 8 hours from the Annapolis, MD area.

All shoot...You're right mapquest shows it as a 6 hour drive.
Hmmmm That changes things...I don't think I can take driving 12 hours in one day...
Maybe I'll arrive Saturday morning and stay overnight in a hotel and drive home on Sunday.

My son and I are coming in from Pittsburgh. The plan is for us to be leaving around 8:00 or so. Of course any time that I go out that early (night shift person, so rarely get out early) I have to stop at Mac's (Micky Dee's for Pittsburghers). We have a van and have four empty seats available. If anyone else needs a ride from and to Pittsburgh, let me know.

Some gas money would be appreciated, but if you are too poor, no problem. tongue.gif

Heads up!

Final cutoff for RSVP for UPENE 2009 is Thursday, August 13th.
Please get your RSVP's emailed to me by then! See details on the UPENE website.

I'm currently tracking a large shipment of goodies from Parallax (Thank You Ken!!!) for both
door prizes and raffle drawings at the Expo. I've also heard from a number of vendors who
will be bringing their goodies to show and sell. A team from Parallax will be presenting as well.

Don't worry about leaving for dinner this time. Brian Cartwright has volunteered to to cook
burgers and dogs on the grill, so all can enjoy the expo from start to finish.

Bring your hand tools, projects, and some stuff to donate to the freebie table!!
It's gonna be a another great Propeller Party!

As long as they are safe to handle.. (Example: radioactive stuff from a smoke detector) then BY ALL MEANS!

I dumped a bunch of salvaged electronics on the freebie table at UPEW. It was gobbled up quickly.

Anything that you *think* might be useful to someone else and is electronics/propeller related
is welcome on the freebie table!

If you bring boxes/packages of stuff, dump them out on the table so that people aren't temped to
simple take the entire box. It makes more fun for everyone.

Most of it is card connectors and SMD componants but I will do just that! Also: I will be possibly giving away an Alphanumeric Flourescent Display, 32 digets, retail at $130. If I can't sell it, then I will think of a creative way of giving it away. smile.gif

Will there be a flea market in addition to the freebe table? I have decided to clean out my collection of unused SX materials, but would rather trade for Prop or stamp stuff. Even though I may meet my EOL before the SX does, I think that I will move directly from stamp to prop.

@Ron,

Grab some table space, setup your wares and place a sign..
While the general rule is to have "Propeller/Electronics related" stuff, I can't see why not.

@Everyone,

If you are using table space to sell/swap/trade or setup projects, please understand
that it is provided "at own risk" -- Prior expos have proven to be a better class of people,
but issues of theft or loss are the responsibility of the product owner.
