I am from Orlando before I moved to HK. There was another forum user or two that mentioned FL as a Propeller Expo some time ago. I will be in FL next week, perhaps just a couple of us could get together for dinner and talk about our projects. Let me know via a PM and we can start another thread on it.

I wish I could go. I don't have much say in the traveling section of the family, so if I do make it, it will be a 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kind of chance. Wish I could come.

We'll be doing something special for those who can't make it.
Certainly it would be preferable to be there, but if you can't,
make sure you can be at your computer that day. :)

The Orlando expo is a good idea. Even if it is farther away, the chances that I would make it there are better than Ohio. (Like maybe only 1 in 1,000,000,000,000·smile.gif )

Okay, I have just now RSVP'ed. I have never been to something like this, and I can't wait to go! smile.gif Well, I am a newbie prop fan as it is... But, I have mastered every single part of the realm of the Basic Stamp 2 Homework Board Rev. B! So, is it strictly prop, or is it mostly prop and a bit of SX, BS2, etc?

Thanks.

RSVP is full/closed on UPEW, but we still have plenty of room at UPENE!
{I just rented half of the gym this year!}

If you still want to get in on Unofficial Propeller Expo series 2009,
it's time to register!

We'll be announcing more details surrounding UPENE as UPEW closes.

Do we have an official motel for the event or will everybody be doing their own thing ?

I will coordinate a Friday night group supper if anybody is interested.
Last year it was followed by a bull session in the parking lot, followed by a series of demo sessions conducted in various car trunks and motel rooms.

I need speakers to contact me by email (jeff@orrtech.net) and let me know your intentions.

As with UPEW, speakers will need to confirm their time slots the morning of the expo.
There will be a white board near registration to write in your time slot. First come, first serve.

Speakers will be limited to 20 minutes with a time warning with five minutes to wrap up.
Figure your presentations to last 25 mins. max. :) At the end of your presentation,
invite those who have taken an interest in your project to join you at your table so
that we can keep the expo moving.

Also, I expect to have plenty of table space. Plan to bring your projects!!

Lodging options are posted to the top thread.

There is a motel nearby (four blocks away) that is half the price, but I can't vouch
for more than to say they have a local reputation for a clean bed and working TV. :)

If someone tried them last year, please report. :)

I'd use Cleveland.. Your best bet to Norwalk.
Personally, I use Akron/Canton 'CAK' -- It's smaller, hence faster, but Cleveland is closer.

Haven't RSVP's yet but, I'm leaning strongly to it! The Amtrak sleeping cabin to Sandusky, OH doesn't look too bad, and I assume I can get a taxi from there... Plus, I think my brother-in-law (who's even geekier than me!) might come from NYC by train too...

Guess I should decide if I should present something or not... Should be less competition without all those Hollywood guys around!

I am looking into making it again this year. I am too bummed out I couldn't make it to the event at Parallax, so I am making an effort to try and make it to the Ohio version. Of course this time I will bring some Brilldea product and hopefully some new items to show off and perhaps do a talk as well.

We've hit a couple speedbumps with Hampton Inn, (seems to be a communication failure somewhere)

Here are two additional hotel offerings in the Norwalk area..

Best Western Norwalk
- www.bestwesternohio.com - (419) 663-3501
They know that they can match Hampton Inn price right now.
Additionally they are checking to see if they can do better.

Comfort Inn Cedar Point South Hotel
- www.comfortinn.com - (419) 499-4681
$80.96
This rate is good till the end of the month. First come, first serve.
The room rate is locked under the words, UPENE, ORRTECH, or JEFF LEDGER

Thanks to Cedar Point, hotel rates are hard to "lock" as they play off each other.

I'll update this more later.

Hi Jeff,

The Comfort Inn looks like the best bet so far. If my map reading is correct, it is only about 5 miles from Norwalk. Is the road any more torn up than it was last year? The place where most of us stayed last year was also hosting about two dozen 'coon hounds. To be honest, they were amazingly quiet, but only one or two yelps can spoil a nights sleep! I'll hold off for a few more days before I make my reservations.

Ron
