We are renting half of the gym this year. They will be placing some special pads down
to prevent our damaging the gym floor, and the remainder of the gym will be closed
to the public. (So we won't have the sound of basketballs!) Space should not be
an issue this year!

Vendors and those requiring setup will be allowed to enter a 8:00am,
the public portion of the expo will open at 9:00am. (Same as last year.)

We'll be closing the expo at 8:00pm to cleanup and be out by 9:00pm so
that our hosts can get home. (I'll need a volunteer or two to help with
shutdown and cleanup if possible.)

Expo attendance is RSVP just like UPEW.

Email the following to: UPENE@WARRANTYVOID.US

Name
Address
City, State, Zip

Do you need table space?
Do you wish to present?
Indicate this is for UPENE.

Sounds good, except: "A comfortable 72 degrees expected."
Please inform those who know that I consider 66.2873* +- 0.0028* F to be comfortable!

(For those with a broken upper arm bone -- humerus -- that was intended as a joke!)

I'll try to be there. It's a short trip across the Sound.

I'm not sure which Parallax folks will be on hand for UPENE, but I'm told that
there will definitely be a Parallax presence in Norwalk, OH again this year.

I'll try to nail the location stuff down this week if possible.

    Ok gang:

I need quick vote! Planning for UPENE 2009

We can reasonably obtain half of the gym in Norwark,OH (more than twice our space from last year!)

We can rent this for either Saturday, August 22nd 2009 or Saturday, August 29th, 2009.

Which day works best for everyone who plans to attend?

I'm going with the crowd and saying either would work. Its only an 8 hour drive, so very doable for me. :) (I'll just schedule that friday off for driving!)

Edit: Are children (Will be 1.5 yrs at the date) and wives welcome?

There were children(and wifes) there last year. They are certainly welcome(although they may be bored) I stayed at the Best Western, and it was only half a mile from the Expo location. So if the Wife and kids want to go back to the hotel and swim in the pool, it's a short distance.

There's a lots to do for the whole family nearby in Sandusky. I plan to make a long weekend of it and go to the amusement parks again this year.

edit - * oh yeah, btw - either day is fine with me too.

    OBC-

I'm looking forward to being there again this year. Last year my family camped at East Harbor State Park about 30 minutes north of Norwalk. It's a fine state park with a beach and it's only minutes away from Cedar Point. Sounds like some were getting great deals on hotel rooms closer, but for those who like to camp (or can't find such reasonable room rates) it runs about $20/night.

Either day is fine by me.

Ok, i have to change my date opinion. 22nd is definately better for me, just found out fall semester starts the weekend of the 29th, so i'll need that weekend to prep for a long school semester. Hope others share my woes! (and the 22nd means i don't have to convince the wife as hard!)

    Russ

P.S. Cedar point is sounding nice. :)

My vote would be for the 22nd, but I am not sure I will make it or not yet (oh I want to!). I know the closer you get to the end of August you might run into school start like Russ pointed out.

It looks like we should go with the 22nd.

I'll make the arrangements and let everyone know when the location is locked in for that day.
(should be able to make a formal announcement by start of the week.)

@Cole: Did you get your two Propeller boards? You aren't too far from me. (same state at least)
We should get together around the next Hamvention for lunch somewhere. (need to check the date)
Here's to hoping you find work soon!

    Oldbit,

I can make it, heck Norwalk is about 40 minutes from me!! Woot! First event I can go to in a while that isn't 8 hours drive/fly away. If you need help, let me know. I may even have some goodies to bring to give away.

I wish I could go. I don't have much say in the traveling section of the family, so if I do make it, it will be a 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kind of chance. Wish I could come.
