Actually it probably stems from theme park and Hollywood stuff. Or maybe I was just being too quick and lazy when typing.

Just booked my trip...

I'll be driving up from Los Angeles June 26 and return to LA June 29.
If you need a ride, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

Living on the planet Earth might be expensive but it includes a free trip around the sun every year...

Experience level:
[ ] Let's connect the motor to pin 1, it's a 6V motor so it should be fine.
[ ] OK, I got my resistors hooked up with the LEDs.
[X] I got the Motor hooked up with the H-bridge and the 555 is supplying the PWM.
[ ] Now, if I can only program the BOE-BOT to interface with he Flux Capacitor.
[ ] I dream in SX28 assembler...

Anyone interested in sharing a room. I have a suite 1 mile from expo and I will be willing to share expenses. I will be flying into Sacramento on the 25th.

I'll almost certainly be there; I'll drive in from Palo Alto, though, so I won't make travel arrangements until the week before.

There's no particular reason I need to register early, is there?

Hotel is booked. is there any others that are flying into Sacramento that may want to share a car? I can plan my flight around that.

Hey there,

If somebody needs to camp on the Parallax property (er, I mean "campus") so be it. You will be gone by the time the City of Rocklin shows up Monday morning to regulate your camping experience California-style, and the event organizer (OBC) will be on an airplane back to Ohio anyway. We have a shower, too. Just make arrangements with me ahead of time.

I don't want to get into airport-Rocklin transportation too much, but if that's a real need for somebody let me know offline. We have a minivan and·a helpful team that can·retrieve you from SMF airport for free.

This is a great experience and I can attest to the value of knowing the various presentors and attendees.

Yes, It is helpful to me if you pre-register ahead as much as
you can, as there are items which require pre-planning and are
adjusted based on the number of attendees.

Thanks guys!

these days.)

You know, its this kind of attitude that makes me so glad to be a part of this community.

Ken, I have been unsuccessful in contacting someone @ rocklin to see exactly what kind of bad mojo I can get myself into if I start flying things around either @ low altitude around town taking pictures or zipping around near the "hobby aviator ceiling". Dont want to bring any heat onto parallax if someone bothers following it back to the source!

Jimmy,

Next to our building is a huge vacant field - perfect for UAVs, R/C, and most anything you want to fly. Just recently we had a demo from Attopilot.com - wow! There are no homes within a 1/2 mile radius so it's an acceptable place for experimentation, especially on a weekend with some kind of emergency cutoff system. I don't think you need anybody's approval if you stay below a certain elevation (say, 1000 feet for example). We fly here all the time, and Attopilot will be demonstrated during the UPEW too.

Hey Ken. Is Rocklin good for star-gazing with a telescope? Maybe too close to big city lights?

You'll want to fly into Sacramento. It's called an "International" airport, but that's a bit of a joke. Sacramento may be the capital of California, but it has a podunk airport. You may have trouble finding a direct flight.

West Jet flys to San Francisco but there are no flights scheduled.

Air Canada flys to Sacramento but the flights are $433 each way. Does not look like I can come this year.

If you're willing to be out of touch for a little while, the train is a good way to travel. I've gone from southern california to northern washington by train (and back!), and it's pretty fun too. Plenty of time to read up on programming, and only $100 for the trip. You could always bring work with you if need be. It's how I plan to go to UPEW.

well I am assuming I will not be able to get much time off from my day job. How long is the train? Guessing I could not leave Friday. Problem is I a moving to Manitoba or I would just drive. only 24 hours or so from Calgary.

I take it back. Train travel might not be cheap: Amtrak travel is cheap. I looked up your VIA rail Canada fares from Winnipeg to Vancouver, and it was almost $900 Canadian! Compare that to amtrak: Seattle, WA (west coast north america) to Washington DC (east coast) is about $200. Anyway, I found a trip from Grand Forks, ND (about 2.5 hours away from Winnipeg, which is where I assume you're moving to). To Sacramento (near Parallax) it's about $450 round trip if you fiddle with the travel days. Although, honestly, you're pretty far away...
