I'll be there. Sounds like fun. Unfortunately I haven't been able to do anything with my Propeller since I started working full-time a little over a year ago (in addition to all my previously-existing responsibilities which I won't bore you with smile.gif). But maybe this will motivate me to work on a little project. Besides, I live only 45 minutes away so it would be crazy not to come check it out.

Might be early, but is Parallax going to throw a Propeller DIP into the goodie bag? If so, I'd love to throw in one of our new project boards. It's about time for me to place a PCB order, and I'm wondering if I should get a few more for the expo.

Sound very cool!

I'd like to angle giveaways toward putting people to work this year, not just adding some
parts to their collection. :) Sorry guys, we want you "doing".. :)

Also, it's been suggested that we do some sort of contest. The biggest suggestion has been
to do a robot contest to see if folks can make it around the Parallax building with a bot.
I haven't jumped on this because it's duplication of what our friends at Sparkfun are doing in April.

Personally I thought the terminator bots video that was posted in the Robotics forum looked
like a LOT of fun, but I'd rather not bring in the Rocklin fire marshal. "California" and "Fire" are not
two words I like to use in the same sentence. Battle bots might also be hard to bring on the plane. (Want to explain it to TSA?) :)

So, contest is in the works, but I haven't hammered it down yet. I'm very open to suggestions.

@Nick: we'll give away as much as OBC approves, but it's going to be up to him to decide how we distribute the hardware. This is just one benefit of being "unofficial" because he gets to answer the questions and make the decisions.

@OBC: good find regarding Joe. He's a serious and focused inventor. That's why we never see him on the forums. Did you get Chip to agree to talk about Prop 2? He's also running the webinar tomorrow morning.

Guest speakers are as follows this year. (in no particular order)

Nick McClanahan
Brian Meade
Joe Grand
Chip Gracey

We still have room for at least a couple more presenters. hint.. hint.. :)

@Ken: There is an "official" request in his inbox, but he hasn't responded yet.
If he doesn't talk about PropII there is likely to be a riot. :) :) :)

As for giveaways, I will correspond with everyone who has offered soon.

Not to get this thread off track, but I was just wondering if this is the only Prop Expo for this year. I liked the one from last year as I was able to go due to it being within driving distance for me and when I ran across this thread I was a little saddened to see it being all the way out in California. (Here's hoping for another one in the northeast area)

2 EXPOS ARE IN THE WORKS!

I expected to be able to announce "officially" the UPENE expo this week, however
the process has slowed, only slightly as our contact at the meeting location is out
on maternity leave and someone is trying to cover for her.

It should be very soon folks! Worse comes to worse, I've scheduled a day off
to make the trip to Norwalk in person and lock this in this week!

Made our reservation today. The hotel says the prices are $89 & $99 - said they were looking right at the contract. It's only a $5 difference it but does cause some confusion.

We just confirmed that the original rates are the correct ones.

Make sure that you specify "special June conference group rate" when you reserve your room.
Hopefully this will clear up the issue. :)

We got a voicemail last night from the hotel, they had "forgot" about the block of rooms or something to that effect. It's all good now.

Obc,

I just talked with my lovely wife... and we are coming!!!

If anyone is interested, I could do a talk and/or Q/A session on LMM, and I should be able to demonstrate my LMM assembler, plus more :)

With a bit of luck, I may have one or two of the Propeller hardware products I am working on right now ready by that time - at least prototypes anyway, in which case I may need a small table.

Thanks,

Bill

If you didn't get a "RESERVATION CONFIRMED" within the week,
then I didn't get it. Might have gotten gobbled up by the spam

Hey, Timothy, here's a little tip from a native: Never say "Cali" in northern California. It may fly down in L.A. but up here we call it California.

And just in case you make it down there during your trip: San Francisco is either "San Francisco" or "The City," never "frisco". smilewinkgrin.gif
