I'll admit, I was honored to be outted from the get-go on this one. But as publison PM'ed me, "I'm not worthy!" What a tremendously helpful squadron of people we have here in the forum. Anyone who has visited other forums knows how encouraging and accepting the Parallax forum is. The main difference? People here are assets! :)

Yes, a good thing erco's "T" key was not broken. This is a family channel.

    Is Hanno off the list?

He has been my hero with Viewport, PropScope and 12 Blocks.

I should have thought of him first as I'm doing my new museum project in 12 blocks.

Thanks to those who nominated me. Getting mentioned in the same virtual breath as some of the other contributors is an honor.

    Hanno +1

He set up a Skype with me to go over 12Blocks features for a 4-H presentation - that's pretty darn cool!!

I'll put a vote in for Jonny Mac. He's often helping out as well as having a lot of cool Propeller projects going on.

For my third and final nomination, I'll offer up.....

    Potatohead!!

From his guide to PASM to his thoughtful, well spoken and knowledgeable replies to many discussion topics. A quiet voice of reason in our tempest of debate!!

Thank you to those that mentioned my name. I'm not worthy unless you at calling out a purveyor of sometimes witty fluf that on occasion stumbles on a pearl of common sense to contribute.

Gosh, there are so many. how can you narrow it down to three?

Publison hit the nail on the head with that question. As the contest goes on, I have seen the names of so many helpful people. The Parallax forums is truly a wonderful community of helpful and interesting people. Even the select few individuals that have rubbed me the wrong way, tend to try and be helpful. :)

However, going back to the OP, this makes the selection a little easier:
you can submit "those types" but what I'm really looking for is the quiet, shadowy, non-glamorous Forumitas that come alongside and help out the newbie in their time of confuse-ment.

According to this criteria, I would have to reestablish my nomination of kuroneko, but at this time, I would also like to include Ariba. These two people always seem to be lurking in the shadows and keeping a very low profile, however when least expected or when called upon by name, they jump out from the darkness to save the day. These two guys are almost like "Forum Super Heros".

Probably mentioned already but I recommend jazzed for all his work on progcc & SImpleIDE as it helps all of us new-bees looking for alternative language support on the prop. Here's an example thread: SimpleIDE Version 0-5-0 Available...

I guess we can include Hippy's early work too. I guess he qualifies as he has been "behind the scene" lately.

I've used my 3 nominations and I haven't seen this unsung hero mentioned.

    Someone nominate Sapieha, please?

Both for his helpful support and his art-like circuit board layouts. This beautiful work often goes unnoticed but is amazing stuff!

There are a lot of people that should be on the list. I'd nominate Saphieha as someone that has contributed a lot. What about Bill Henning?

For people still using the SX Processors Zoot has been very helpful.

+1 Add to my list kuroneko (Marko) who has provided some amazing VGA driver objects this year.

and Roadster (Karl) who has also done a fair amount of amazing stuff. VGA Ranquest anyone?

    Added Bill in Post #27.

Zoot and Saphieha are an excellent choices!

How soon we forget about SX support.

Do you think, if we nominate deSilva, and he comes out on top, that he'll return? It might be worth a shot. He was a great contributor, and I still miss his wry, sometimes dry, wit. :)

Zoot and PJ Allen are two of my favorite Forumistas. They both have great knowledge from personal experience, and bring fresh insights and perspectives. Best of all, they are never afraid to buck the crowd mentality, I respect that mightily.

I'm not quite sure where the line is drawn on the people that always help out, and who not to say because of it.

Either way I didn't see any mention so far for Duane Degn so I'll make that all three of my votes!

So many people on here have helped me...

100% ! I see Duane as a high-profile guy and automatically assumed he was also excluded per rules, but I'll back your call just in case.
