Hey, seriously, after working with Parallax, aren't we all winners???
BOOO-YAH!!! Scores with the "AirBot" - PM coming your way! Now, I'm challenged to build something (out of wood) to put the new PING on....and to show up at UPENE. Dang the pressure and stress!!
Glad to see the Battery Monitor board made the list. I suppose that project will be assigned to Mr Matt as a follow up to the wonderful new Stingray battery option.
When are you going to start taking pre-orders?
Maybe the next contest the Propeller based badges will make the list......
Quality robot track solution? Does that mean you guys are going to work on a new middle range bot?:) If so then i will be one of the first to buy one(As long as the price is reasonable):)
I'm not even sure what a PING))) module is? After looking around It seems to be some kind of sensor for robots?
Even though Parallax is (most?) known for robots kits etc, it's all about the Propeller for me. I have used it in many projects, but NEVER in a robot.
To be honest I don't think I will find any use for the prize I won. If it isn't possible to exchange it for something else, I will give it to the first person willing to take it.
@Ahle2... For real. You have never heard of a PING))) before? It is a very popular ultra-sonic distance measuring device. Even the Ardunio folk use it for its simplicity:)
@Matt: What killed the balance bot kit idea? It was actually "Gramps" who came up with it, so I was going to have to send any prize to him. Personally, I thought it was a good idea. Design logistics issues?

Why not use that as an input to one of your sound projects with SIDcog?? I've seen sonar sensors like this used like a Theremin to vary the pitch of the sound. I'll bet you could find some other cool uses for it too.....
OK, how's that supposed to make ANYBODY feel better about their prize???
@Ahle2 - On robots, they are often used to keep the robot from running into things. On a staitonary Propeller project, you could mount it on a servo, let it spin and ping and keep things from running into yoru Prop. ...use it to confuse bats ....ok, I'm out of ideas for now.

Jeff, I don't think it was Mr Matt or Parallax that killed the idea. I think it was the owner of this webpage:
That it may have gotten Ken's vote for a new project and made the list.....
A balance bot with just one wheel. According to the writeup one wheel is all you need: "Since then I realized that two wheels are redundant, and only a single wheel is needed to make a ridable vehicle. "
@Ravenkallen
I'm sorry but Parallax makes the best MCU ever created and that's the only reason I found my way to this forum.
I've always ignored any threads with "robot" in the title. Ironically I just became a member of a new "competence network" at work which will explore what can be done with kinect sensors and robots.
I probably should be ashamed, because the man pulling the strings in this network is the same man who became "famous" for making the RoboCut robot lawnmower.
Make an IDE thats compatible with; Droids SDK, Apples Inc. SDK (Objective C++/ AKA Coacoa), Microsofts .Net Microframework, .Net Visual Studio, (or Continue the MSRD R3 support), and MATlab. to name a few, for All your Microcontrollers..... Why...wether some people like it or not; advances in technology have now made programming in Higher level languages more mainstream:nerd:...This will make all your future Good Old Made In The USA Harware more user friendly in all Mainstream Platforms:thumb:
I see the judges noticed my home automation product suggestion, which is gratifying since it doesn't seem anybody else did.
I seconded Home Automation! I badly want to replace my X-10 (not so much the modules as the master control). (...and I'm sure I'll do it badly the first couple of times!)

It's probable that the prizes will go out Friday - the delay is because today and tomorrow we're in "Fiscal Year and Cleaning Focus Mode".

I think it was me who had the idea for the penguin replacement
P.S. What if 2 of your ideas are winners? Not saying that two of mine are, but...

18?
Really?
You'll be a very busy boy for the next 10 years, Matthew!
I'm guessing Parallax was about to have a layoff and you're trying to make yourself invaluable...
That's exactly how I've survived for nearly 28 years!
Congrats to everyone who submitted an idea. Or ten.
Seriously, did am I the penguin replacement guy? I want this cleared up ASAP (also regarding my p/t suggestion as the xy base)
Sorry - this statement disqualifies you...;)
erco! shoush !!! Don't divulge all my secrets!

I can make that happen...

- 4x8 sheets of 1/4 or thicker Plywood
- Random sizes of knotty Pine to build bases from
Better yet, get him some of the Lumber made from recycled grocery bags and don't tell him it isn't real wood............
Robert
If nobody had any objections, I'll send Matt my PM.
