Based on all the feedback we've gotten, there's been some slight changes to the Acrylic Ping Stand. Among these, the sensor holes have been decreased in diameter which leaves a greater distance between the sensor hole and the screw hole.
Plus, you'll see a video post shortly on how to properly (and easily) assemble the unit.
cast acrylic rather than extruded, which is a bit more expensive but also quite a bit tougher and lacking the fracture plane that extruded acrylic has
Exactly right Roger! Actually, about 35% more in raw material cost - but well worth it) Will it still break? Of course, but it takes quite a *hit* to make that happen. If you want "unbreakable", our aluminum one is still the best option. (The acrylic version is simply a lower cost alternative -the aluminum one is NOT being discontinued), - plus, the Acrylic version has a somewhat different "look"...your choice.

In another thread there is a discussion about a "Power-point Propeller Presenter". That got me thinking; How many of these winning ideas really made it into products??
I would LOVE to have a "Parallax Portable Power Point Presenter" on my keyring. ready to be connected to any projector with VGA at any time.
Btw, did Parallax send my price to Microcontrolled?
No.
However, several months ago, Parallax very kindly sent me a PropBoe! I am waiting to post about it when I have a project completed, but some complications have kept my robot from being finished yet. Namely the fact that my computer with all my code on it was dead for several weeks, and it just got fixed a few days ago. Progress shall resume!
.....You know, a Parallax Portable Power Point Presenter would actually be pretty cool. All you would need is a keyboard jack, VGA or composite out, and an SD card. Maybe I should work on one.

I have used digital picture frames (DPF) for portable presentations, also as standalone displays for science-fair type public viewing. They are cheap and easy to use; you just slap in an SD card with your images. In fact, I prefer the cheaper ones (without cumbersome remotes) since they automatically advance from photo to photo as soon as you turn them on, no remote or pushbuttons required. Some can do video and sound, too.
Dang! Missed this thread. Lots of fantastic ideas. It will be interesting to see who Matt picks as the winner.
As an aside, I think all Quickstart 'add-on' boards should be call QuickPicks e.g. QuickPick AV, QuickPick Comm .... I had originally thought QuackPack, Then QuickPack before ...

Linus Akesson did something similar to make his presentation about chiptunes.
That's where "my" idea came from, see post #84!
(Or did that already happen on Weird Science)
Do NOT forget to hook up the doll.
