    Dear Name Search Committee:

I guess you're all expecting an announcement about who the Winner is?

Well, it all came down to (9) finalists. All nine were really, really good (No, I'm not going to tell you who the runner's-up were).

Of the nine finalists, there was one that stood out - well beyond any other...

Now, I could announce it right here.

    Right now, on this Post.

But, I not going to for two reasons:

    A) This is my 249th post, and I'd like the announcement to be accompanied by a little *fanfare* for my up-coming "Second Star" and

    B) I want to teach Mr. Whiney up there a little patience...

Announcement to be made @ 12:00 Noon Parallax Time.

    Same Bot-time, same Bot-channel!

Okay, Mr. Engineer. Now you can make your 250th post.

Are you going to name the bot after the Whiner? Whiney Bot? Chief of Crankiness bot?

    Ken

Yeah, well, imagine how bad you'd feel if I got hit by a bus before noon!

Awesome Phil! Great use of a word balloon to alter the point of an unrelated picture. When we started using lithium AA batteries in volume at work, we had to initiate safety measures. I altered a Smokey the Bear picture to state "Only You can prevent Lithium Fires"

    /end thread hijack

on with the naming! it's 12:01 already! (sorry Matt, just had to)

    AND THE WINNER IS...
    madeusa.jpg

    Congratulations to Whit!

The judges felt that, although there were other very clever and appropriate names, "Madeusa" really describes one of our main directives here at Parallax.

This is exemplified by our commitment to doing as much design and fabrication as is possible, right here in the "good ol' USA". That's not to disparage any other country's technical capabilities - because like Ken said earlier, if we were in France, we'd say the same thing.

The added *Plus* is that the Full Robot Base Kit is Really Made Here in the USA.

Whit! You're the winner of a $100.00 Parallax Shopping Spree!

    Congratulations!!! Everybody say "Yay Whit!"...

Congrats Whit! After I was looking through the list again last night, that was my favorite as well. Now we need to get Rick G. to make a tentacle kit for it!

    Congrats Whit

MadeUSA was one of my favorites too! I'm big on made in USA. That's why I ride American iron and operate American radios.
Oh yea, and build with American micros!

Hey Matt, make sure it ships with a made in USA sticker the owner can apply.

MadeUSA is a great name. With a double meaning, I love it. I also agree that a set of tentacle add-on kits would be awesome! Come on Rick G and Ken! Make it happen!

    Gratz Whit!

    Congratulations, Whit!

Now when students tell you their robot is having a bad hair day, you'll know it's time to grab the mirror.

And by "Boe-Bot's successor", Ken means "Boe-Bot's brother"!

Question - What is the best part about winning a $100 shopping spree at Parallax?

Answer - Knowing that if the prize had been $100 CASH - I would have spent it at Parallax anyway!
