Thank's for all the support , I've been having a ton of maching problems. You would not believe how many bad parts it takes to make a good part.I'm working on the hinge point for the two bodies(arrg). I'm really starting to ge worried , Ken hasn't talked about any robot in 6 months (that means he's building one).
I read this quote the other day from the book, Almost Human by Leo Gutkind. There was a review of the book in Robot Magazine.
He spent six years with the robotics guys at Carnegie Mellon and said, "Nothing works the first time and very often nothing works the first hundred times. And if exceptions occur, if something goes right immediately , it will probably fail when the experiment is replicated."

I like them. I have been thinking about using some spoked wheels. There are many good reasons - easy availablity, various tire treads, light weight,low cost and some the rear wheels you scavenge might even have sprokets (for driving). Some of the kid's bikes have the formed plastic spokes too (and·almost any color)·- like in the attached picture.

·Nice looking wheels , Heres a photo of the machining of the center pivot ( I would like to thank Ken for giving me hint's on the flood cooling system ,works awsome).
Confession: I've built about a half dozen smaller robot's before taking on this one. Right now I have a taig CNC mill with IMService servos and controller. This is not a bad setup if you are building smaller robots . The problem is that the small mill has alot of problems with bigger parts . The run time starts to get to the point that·things start getting messed up. I've changed gears to see this project·to·the end , I have recently purchased a older Milltronics Partner one CNC·mill·and·the·former owner is training me in on it·. I've always had a Bridgeport mill , But wanted the better look that a·CNC machine did on parts. I hope this·won't descourage anyone from trying a bigger robot , I just wanted better results.
I finally have the Milltronics CNC Mill up and running, installed updated driver boards on all axis’s, they seemed a little jumpy to me. I have to run some orders for customers today, I’m hoping to sneak some robot parts in it tomorrow. Here is a cool CNC simulator program from Milltronics for anybody that wants to practice running a CNC machine without owning one, I also have the programming manual in PDF format (PM me and I’ll email it to you).
