I'll make some calls Monday and talk to the Manager.

If there are rooms, we'll get them opened up.

The Hampton Inn in Lincoln, just 4 miles away from the Civic Center, is only $67 a night. Anyone else staying there?
Never mind, wrong location. Any progress on the Hampton Inn becoming availible? Or is it out for good?

Does the holiday inn work the same as the Hampton Inn? Do you get the discount with the code? You mention both, but the Hampton is what you have been talking about.

OK, I got a call back from the Holiday Inn people, who spoke with the Hampton People who DO HAVE ROOMS.

Say UPEC as soon as you start talking to them, they have a bunch of rooms reserved and are sold out otherwise.

I told her I was going to be there for a conference but I did not say UPEC (I was waiting till the rate to tell her UPEC- don't do that), thats why she told me they were sold out.

I am booked at the Hampton now!!

Ottawa here I come again!

Hi OBC and others,

I used the URL in the first message on this thread for the Hampton Inn and put UPEC in the Group/Convention Code box. I just tried again and it brought up the $99 price with no mention of being filled up. I did not follow through and reserve a second room though, but with the enthusiasm for this event maybe I should have and sub-leased it!

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I was away from my computer all day yesterday.

If there is no room at the Inn... bring a sleeping bag, we have plenty of room in the basement at the office. Free food and adult drinks if you select this option. BUT you have to listen to me talk:) We have a shower... but you will need to bring a towel. We are accepting reservations through this thread. No refunds:)

I talked to the ex, and we'd like to add to Parallax's offer of cheap-o or free-o electronics. We have multiple sets of 3d glasses, they are going home with you... the really expensive variety. And, we also have a research MRI unit, which was largely stripped of copper (without my knowledge-- never argue with your ex!!!:) Except for the gradients and related controls and transformers, it is up for grabs. If you want the electro-magnet... it has a permanent 7 gauss field built into it. My original intention was to reproduce Frank Prato's work,

http://www.ursi.org/Proceedings/ProcGA02/papers/p0528.pdf,

which demonstrated that MRI gradient fields alone can change opioid receptors. The unit represents a high water mark for my research career:) No pity required, since I've noticed that Frank is now tracking the viral labelled migration of myocardial stem cells:) Some ideas really are before their time. All we would have to do is knock down a wall. All you have to do is bring a really big truck. We also have a clinical 1.5T MRI unit, which hasn't been used for several years, and I'm seriously considering opening up the bay and letting you guys have some fun!

Friday was bowling, Saturday was swimming, today was basketball, and this week we will be snowshoeing (Special Olympics) in Galena, so I'll be off the forum until around Feb. 6. No classes in the home study section this week:)

Let's make this a meeting to be remembered!!!!!

Words cannot express my excitement, anticipation and complete gratitude to all of the wonderful people at Parallax and of course to Jeff.

By the way, I'm fairly convince that the $100,000 research console that one of you will be taking home... can easily be replaced by a Propeller:)
That isn't a joke... but it really makes me smile:)

*Bump*

@OBC: Where will the expo itself be held? Will it be in a conference room in one of the hotels or more like last year's UPENE? How much space will there be?

I'm just glad I have something to bring this time. A TIP TO EVERYBODY: If you want to get the maximum enjoyment out of the expo, bring one of your projects. No matter how good or bad or even uncompleated. Everyone just wants to see each other's projects, so bring your own and have some fun! Oh, and bring something for the freebie table too. smile.gif

PRO TIP!

I couldn't have said it better myself! Propeller projects finished and unfinished are encouraged!

(Of course you do have time to work on them for the expo!)

I'll be bringing my RFID Box, my portable WAV player (or what remains of it smile.gif) and some other little things. I don't think I'll have room to bring my 4-foot tall rolling junkbot, but I'll also bring lots of programs on a jump drive and see if some pro's can help me out on fixing some bugs.

Just in case I didn't mention it before, there is an elevator we can use.
(It is an older building, so the elevator is original, but functional.)

I just signed up, looks like a very good time. A little drive from central Wisconsin, but if I remember right they still let people from Wisconsin into Illinois. I'll be bringing my Nickle-O-Matic along with my latest creation the Turing machine.

Just reading up on all this and I might have to drive over there or see if I can get some cheep airline tickets. I am over in South Dakota, but if anyone is heading that way and would be interested in riding along, let me know....

Also, for the freebe table, does anyone have much use for computer motherboards/cards/power supplys/other video switch circuit boards? I had a old building and when I was cleaning it out I was putting all the circuit boards in a 55 gallon drum.... The drum is over filled with boards, not heat sinks, no wires, just plain boards. Does anyone think this would be of any value to anyone for removing any of the parts or board connectors? If so, I will try to get it there, or fill my trunk if I end up coming. Say goodbye to the freebe table and hello to the freebe room :)

If you would like to be identified with the expo while traveling there is a "Expo_Car_and_Bag_Logo" pdf
on the first thread. Print this out and tape to your bags, or put it in your rear car window.

* If you are looking for a ride.
* If you are willing to provide a ride.
* If you are meeting someone at the airport.

Many thanks to Jen of Parallax for creating this logo!

It's about and 1-1/2 south and I'll bet we could get John to open for a group of us.

I see this is over 70 miles south, the 1-1/2 south must me hours, not miles :(

Is this working out for a group trip? just wondering.

I plan on bringing extension chords, power strips, etc. to setup there.· Will I need to bring a card table or chairs or is all that provided?

@Chris,

A table would only be required if you want to exactly know what your space expectations are.
The local chamber is providing the table rentals, but more space is always a plus. As for chairs, I'm sure
there are more than enough for the group.
