Down in the bottom, below Charelston, on the oposite side of the state as Hunington.

    Computers are microcontrolled.

    Robots are microcontrolled.
    I am microcontrolled.

    But you·can·call me micro.

If it's not Parallax then don't even bother.

I have changed my avatar so that I will no longer be confused with others who use generic avatars (and I'm more of a Prop head then a BS2 nut, anyway)

Nope, that is a bit far for any regular meetings. Too bad, it would have been nice to start getting together with a Prop hobbiest.

Anyone else in the Greater Pittsburgh area, or South Western Pennsylvania?

I started off when I was a freshman. If you know anybody that can weld around you just ask them to convince your mother it is safe and let them teach you. When I weld on my bot I already have to take it elsewhere because I unfortunately do not have 600 bucks to buy a new machine.

I welded in metal shop back in high school but you do have to wear the right clothes and keep safety in mind because accidents happen for a variety of reasons because total safety isn't something that can be taught and you can't be replaced.

My teacher taught us about welder's eye and that is when you wake up and you feel like there is sand in your eye even though you wore an ultra-violet UV mask.

I've seen welding equipment in catalogs for much less than $600.

I've been taught it all, from blowing up if a spark hits a lighter in a pocket, getting electrocuted if you weld on wet ground, blowing up if acetylene is released at a rate more than 15psi, exploding regulators if dust isn't blown out first, and yes, also the burnt eyes.

As for welders under 600 bucks, true, but many of them are Smile. I do hope to get a welder that can weld on aluminum, though, which is part of the reason it will cost so much.
