I'm always trying to win people over to the Propeller. Where are you located, Billy?

Location, location, location. Why do so few indicate where they are located in their profile? Many, many times there has been someone working on something where I wonder if they are anywhere near me, I check their profile and... nothing.

I know of no Propeller groups anywhere. Though there will be one in Rocklin, CA at the end of June. :D

This seems to come up periodically? Where is everyone has been tried in several different ways, but none of them Parallax supported. I guess they tend to die out then. Of course, if localization were supported by Parallax, then they'd have to dedicate man hours to the topic, then charge more on their products to pay for it...

What about the map in http://popeller.wikispaces.com ? It's a link on the main page "Where in the world" and then "Propeller Hat Map" ... Hope all members of this forum can be found there ;o) And ... it's amazing how many girls use the propeller smilewinkgrin.gif

I suppose it might work. But consider how many different people have a propeller and wouldn't mind connecting? Probably more than the 50 or so people on the map. BTW, I am on there...

There's a handful of us in Orrville, OH.

The most successful established groups would be UPEW and UPENE.

    No Parallax man hours required. It is a quick four step process to record your location information;

All you have to do is click on "Control Panel"

    524125760_KxDyG-L.jpg

    Then "Edit Profile"

    524125770_XzJ85-L.jpg

    Enter your Location...

    524125777_2BwpL-L.jpg

    Finally, click on "Submit".

For any groups formed by our customers, we'll support you with some hardware mail drops, a listing on our web site, or whatever else works for you. It's really rewarding to see like interests together.

Yesterday I ran a tour through Parallax for some local community college students. This group had programmed the BASIC Stamp for about a month or two, but they were frothing over the Propeller before they walked in the door. It was all Dave Andreae and I could do to manage their questions. We sent them on their way with a Prop Proto Board USB and they all had specific projects in mind. The instructor who runs the course has done a really good job getting exposure for his program - he even had Arnold Schwarznegger visit a few weeks ago who left a big check for their new electronic / solar education program.

My point is that there's lots of reward and motivation that stems from real human interaction over shared interests.

At least for users in the US it might be a good idea to list your location by ZIP code. With that you aren't providing your whole address but someone could easily determine if you are anywhere nearby.

Mostly Hong Kong, soon to be Singapore, sometimes Orlando, FL and sometimes (like next the week or two) Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids, MI. I know there are a couple others from the MI area in the south western portion that I have communicated with on e-mail and PM but have had a chance to meet up with yet.

I would love to meet some people who also like to play with the prop and learn and exchange·some tricks and some shortcuts, I feel the best way to learn the·possiblities of this great chip is to hang out with some like minded people.

Any-one interested near Louisvill KY. ?

@Cluso, with that kind of spread I guess we need to meet at the Alice

Or perhaps we could meet at the Tropicana Cafe in Sydney, home of the Tropfest short film festival. Then we could call it the PropFest smile.gif

Next week I'll convert an old robot building buddy in Canberra to the Prop, with the help of Linus's excellent demo
