Here is a short video of Wall-E's eyes when the lights go out or when he approaches a dark area. he also has ping in both eyes, these had to be modified to fit one in each eye.

Hey StampNut2... I got a quick question about Wall-E's Ping eyes.

Did remounting the Ping transmitter and receiver further apart affect the readings you got?

If so in what way?

Ugha That side of it I have not yet had the chance to test maybe next week when I will have more time to experiment with this. Hopefully it shouldn't have to much effect.

Hey All,

The Radio Shack experiment worked! Four days after walking in the local Radio Shack and placing the order, a pair (one left and one right) of Mattracks arrived at my front door. The total price was $30.67 and might not go up much or at all for multiple pairs - the box was really big and could hold at least four pair with packing protection.

Catalog numbers are as listed above (the order did not include the matching tires for the Hummer).

Order away! StampNut2 - want me to check on some for you (though I may have to wait till after Easter) ?

I would kill for a set.
But I'd have to wait two months before I can afford them... living on a farm sucks.

You should consider buying up a bunch and selling them to forum members for a small
markup.

Mine are on the way ... now to figure out a nice easy way to mount ... Don't have a mill and not planning to run over rough ground .. just indoor ... so not to concerned mounting them with shocks/pivot.

Ugha I have checked my ping Which is 60mm apart in Wall-E's head against the normal 25mm ping setup, And there is absolutely no difference in distance measurements from ping to object measuring with a tape and comparing with debug terminal. Hope this helps out.

OK, I am now starting to build my H bridge for Wall-E, I will have to substitute the Tip: 120 and 125 for the ones that I have Tip: 121 and 126 Darlington. They are similar specs.

Ok, Have now bread boarded my H bridge system for Wall-E, Had a problem to start with, it did not work. I got out the logic probe and started checking and found that I had two 2N2222 transistors faulty. Replaced and works fine. However I have a problem in that the Tip 121 and 126 which I substituted for the ones shown in the schematic 120 and 125 seem to have a continuious voltage across the collectors even when the A+B and A+B [this is for two H bridges] are NOT tied to VDD. I would have thought that when either A+A or B+B or B+A or A+B were floating there would be no voltage across the collectors only when tied to VDD, Or am I reading this wrong.

Ok, I have found the problem and this system runs an active high to operate all functions NOT active low like the stamp puts out. So ithe program will be changed by GWjax so that it runs an active high output. Will test today. if all ok I will build the circuit.

We may be inserting 4n32/33 darlington opto couplers on the input lines to the H-bridge to stop any interference by back emf, although the diodes across the motors should stop this.

StampNut2, Whit, or ??

Do you know the best way for connecting the Mattracks to the Boe-Bot? Do they have some connections our there to combine these, or is it the "makeyourown" brand? I looked on other posts, and have an idea how to connect them, but haven't seen a good picture of the missing link. I have the tracks and just starting to get time to combine them. Any words of wisdom?

If you follow some of the links on the earlier posts in this thread, I think you will see several options. It is a make your own kinda deal, unless you contact TOm and by his attachment.

See my post to Jbod on page three.

This is TOm connector from the servo to the Mattracks - the rest is a question of fixed or movable mounting.

I used erector parts to mount the mattracks. Here is some pics. Nothing custom or machine made..except for $15 worth of erector parts off ebay. I've ran old huey around for 2 months now and only had to re-tighten one nut. Here some pics:

I'll have to dive back into this and get these hooked up.

StampNut2: Looking at the pictures of your fine work, it's almost like you're the one would designed the movie version of Wall-E. I've seen a couple pictures, and a movie trailer. Your version seems right on the money. Keep up the excellent work.
