Quattro! Yes, that was designed to draw those that would actually be interested in seeing what it was. Originally I was going to spell the URL out in ASCII codes, but that would be tedious. In any event I'm glad you found the site and now the forums. It will be interesting to see what comes of all this. =) I spent a lot of time tonight setting things up. I hope everything works.

    John,

Let me know if you still haven't gotten the e-mail. A few people have signed up since you so I was thinking something happened with yours. Maybe not.

    Chris,
Yeah no problem .. thanks. Still didn't get any email ... even though I asked for a resend of the activation email .. prior to you manually activating the account. I run my mail server from here so if reverse dns lookup (ptr) doesn't match - records for incoming mail - it gets 'kicked' .. doesn't even make it to filtering.. also if your (mx) records are IP based rather than name based they too will be 'kicked'. If none or incorrect (mx) records I fall back to (A) records .. so basicaslly I have set up my mail server to 'kick' mails sent from servers without (FQDN) fully qualified domain names.

    Regards,
    John

That's probably the problem then since the forum sends from its own mail engine. I don't have my SMTP server settings put into it due to limited outgoing relays from my ISP.

Which Micro-Professor? The 1P? If it has the fluorescent display and a full ASCII keyboard, it's the 1P. I found it to be a pretty good idea, but the manual is awful. They should have had an American write it. The big shortcoming with the 1P is that it has no I/O to play with. Doing that requires either building an interface, or getting lucky and finding the board. As long as you have the manual, you should be OK. It has the monitor listings, subroutines, and schematics.

I just bought a TRS-80 Color Computer on an online auction(awaiting delivery) and a few weeks ago I got hold of the Z80-based 'Micro Professor' microprocessor trainer.
(that one needed a new power connector and to have a shorted cap replaced. The smell of solder... pheromones for geeks... )
Don't worry, the one I have is the 1B model, with HEX keypad(and function keys) and 7-segment LED display, as all good microprocessor trainers are supposed to have.

The best site to learn about it is http://www.sbprojects.om

Edit: New ones can be bought from http://www.flite.co.uk/·as they still produce them...

I still miss My old TRS-80

One of My favorite programs that I wrote converted text to Morris code. I could type in the word and send it out in dots and dashes over My TramD201.

I still have the Tram. and a couple of liners. But they need to be retubed.
