Doing field research in the Mississippi Delta region I saw a number of regional chains that I had never seen anywhere else and in one small town they were all next to each other in order:
Fred's
The Mad Butcher
On the run
two grocery stores and one gas station. I also saw the mythical "Motel 7"
Had to make a run to the vet to pick up meds for the dog and passed by a little stand with a very large sign "Wax Ground King"
If I didn't know something about Chinese or have other visual cues, I'd be stumped. It was obvious that the stand was selling beverages, and in particular the Chinese indicated 'wax gourd' as a major ingredient.
Just another case of an Asian sign maker than doesn't check the English text.. all too ubiquitous.
