Of course. Those were printed by Parallax when we introduced Stamps in Class, around 1998 or so. I'm not sure how we distributed them but they were free.

I can add the toddler to my display at Robothon. We get lot's of Boe-Bots in line following and line maze and LOT's of Parallax mini-sumos in our mini-sumo competition. Here is a link to video of my remake of walker using a BOE for brains. I had started a BS1 version of this walker (see picture) but have not printed parts for it yet though the parts are already designed in Alibre if anybody wants the files to try it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6FRYSqHTX4&list=UUNhTQ_MwM36MtVQu6dV4cww.

    Somewhere!

Duane's scratch-built popsicle stick walker is cool. I also like this MAKE 3-servo walker, made from (free) paint stir sticks.

(And if you haven't seen the Boebot Walker kit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnLQ7RQUd8k&feature=player_detailpage#t=103s)

I remember when Parallax used to put bookmarks in the shipping package. I kind of miss those. I still have some around here somewhere. I actually used them. I also have a pile of screwdrivers!

Yes, Ken bring back the bookmarks. I miss them too.

You could put the Propeller pin-out on them and maybe the quickstart pin-out on the other side.

Well you'll have to come to Makier Fair NY to get one. Nick delivered mine there last year. You can have it it you show up.

Now that I think of it, you probably got one from Matt at the Expo.

    Going too OT. Sorry Carol.

Yes, from the 2012 Robotics Expo. Matt G is A-OK in my book. He, Ken, Jim Carey and all of the Parallax folks were extremely generous and kind. Makes me extremely proud to be associated with such a high caliber group. Keeps me coming back. At least 101 more times! (9899 posts now)

I still want to make a bug like this. I am thinking now about newer components. Prop for controller, Ping))) or IR instead of whiskers and the micro servos to make the bug smaller. Batteries will probably determine the size...Been studying the nice photos Carol supplied.

Could probably build it cheapest this way too...

I have a couple of those blue rulers and until this thread I did not know they were called inventors wands. I just noticed all the info printed in the middle. How weird I never noticed, I use it a lot!

I still have these three PDFs no longer available from Kronos about making a PLYWOOD walker. Handy mechanical construction tips & templates included. The recommended Perseus controller is no longer available, but a BS2 (or BS1, maybe even a Propeller) could drive this easily. Files attached for your plywood bandsawing pleasure.

Those are great looking projects, but I think the Milford Instruments Bug has maybe the simplest design for the hardware. Right now I am going to go back to assembling my new Toddler. Hee, hee.

Whit asked me to post this video here:

    [video=vimeo;71207671]

It's a two-servo crawler that I built from a BS2-pe Motherboard. The mechanism is not original; it's based upoin the BEAM Robotics bots designed by Mark Tilden (which are analog, not digital, BTW).

@PhiPi: Looks very cool. Might build one like this for Jameco contest. Looks to me like:

Rear legs have a nearly horizontal axis to mainly tilt the body, front legs have a nearly vertical axis for mainly pulling forward, and front feet (only) have rubber pads for traction? Weight dist ~50-50? Thanks.

    Sweet!

Carol, you have a Penguin too, right? Keep your whole Parallax walker family together! Make a video of all 3 walking simultaneously. :)

Phil, is there a video somewhere of this robot walking over a book? What is its name and is it a kit or your own creation? It is a very interesting little robot that looks like a lot of fun to build and program. I thought I saw a video of it previously. Probably here somewhere but I am an old woman and can easily blame it on a brain fart. :-)

Stuff and nonsense, Carol. Old women don't use the word "fart". You're as young as you feel, cuss and program! :)
