Hello,
Our customers frequently ask to contribute and now is a time where we really need your help for language translation.
Background
Simple IDE has potential to become the official Parallax tool for programming the Propeller. The reasons are quite obvious:
If you would like to participate, please reply to this thread and express your interest. Daniel or I will come back and modify this post to include your name as the translator, as well as any status/comments/remarks you wish to add. Expect this post and thread to evolve a bit in front of your eyes.
For your assistance we will provide hardware of your choice. I don't know how much or what hardware. We'll figure that out - but probably on the order of $500 per translator. Consider that once you're in our translator loop you are probably going to be staying for a while as we expand SIDE and ask for updated files.
Several of you have already started. Please identify yourself (MacTuxLin?) and know that we appreciate you for helping us out previously.

Background
Simple IDE has potential to become the official Parallax tool for programming the Propeller. The reasons are quite obvious:
- Multi-platform (Mac, Windows, Linux)
- Multilingual through language file support
- Open-source tool chain
- C and Spin support (and potentially other languages)

I will obtain a copy of this and attach it to this post Here: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?141036-Simple-IDE-Parallax-needs-translators!&p=1108328&viewfull=1#post1108328.
- When you are ready to start work, post on this thread (or email Daniel at dharris@parallax.com) that you are starting. Daniel will update the table above.
- Translate and save.
- Post your file on this thread and reply that it is available. Steve will incorporate into SIDE distribution files.
We're really looking forward to rallying our world-wide friends and resources!

Yes, this is correct. We're looking for native speakers of languages other than English.
Great, can we recruit you for this job?

Wow, that is great that you guys volunteered so quickly - thank you!!! I'll tentatively put you down for each language, respectively. I'm working with Jazzed (Steve) to get all of the files you will need together so that we can get started. From what I have seen so far, you will need to download QT Linguist and I'll need to supply you with a Translation Source (.ts) file. The following is a screenshot I took of a sample translation, from English to Danish.
The translations look as simple as selecting the source word or phrase, and then you would provide an equivalent translation. In the example, "Browse" translates to "Gennemse".
I'll have full instructions once I get the required files and exact process figured out.
Thanks again!!! :coffee:
*checks chart*
..Wait a minute, there is no English UK variant. Sneeeaaaaky :P
Thanks Daniel.
The QtLinguist program can open .ts (Translation Source) files for editing. Once a file is translated, we will put them into the repository according to the 2 letter codes in ISO 639-1 http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php .
The files can allow for locales, so even Heater's translation can be used in the the U.K. if it's called SimpleIDE_en_uk.qm (IIRC).
So there's your native tongue Heater :P
The good news is that translators can test changes by doing a file "Release As ..." to the SimpleIDE translation directory even with the current SimpleIDE release. These can be used in the current Beta test packages without a new SimpleIDE release.
Thanks to Kinichi at http://estory.com.sg/ we have early Simplified Chinese .ts Translation Source and .qm Qt Message files: simpleide-zh.ts and SimpleIDE_zh.qm The simpleide-zh.ts file has most of the necessary translations, but there are some things that need to be updated. This illustrates a point: more than one translation cycle is necessary. However, we only need to update the .ts file.
I've included a simpleide-beta-ts.zip and simpleide-zh-ts.zip for anyone who is ready to get started. There will be updates later, but changes should be minor compared to the first effort.
Thanks,
--Steve
Love your videos!
SimpleIDE is an amazing project! Glad to see it will become bilingual.
OBC
I hope I can translate it to Russian.
PS. Running away to download QT Linguist
Where can I download "Simple IDE QT Linguist Source Text"?
Hello Ken,
Yes, Kenichi here. I've completed the heavy lifting which ended last week. I'll have more time during the day to help.
Hello Steve,
I can continue to help if needed.
Cheers
Kenichi
Just install qtcreator or whatever the package for your distro is called. Or get the entire qt installation package from qt.nokia.com.
Hi Kenichi.
Yes, please update simpleide-zh.ts and post back here. SimpleIDE has some updates.
I'll post the .qm files.
Thank you.
--Steve
Also:
QtLinquist is in the QtCreator package ... Full SDK is not required for translations.
http://qt.nokia.com/downloads/downloads#qt-creator It's available via Linux packages too.
Got it.
Kenichi
http://qt.nokia.com/downloads
Seems that linguist is not available in a recent version in a Debian stable package for example.
The SDK is preferred as it has an auto updater although it is a three times bigger download than Qt Creator only.
I had a friend in San Francisco that worked in translating Japanese to English for large companies. They would have one translator translate the project to Japanese and they they would have him translate back to English independently.
In that way, they were assured that misinterpretations were caught.
I have to add that I'm refusing to learn/use new German spelling so spelling will be old school.
Where can I download the first TS file for translation ?
inakic.
Unzip and open with QtLinguist.
I've screen through a few times & unless I'm sleepy, I don't see any new additions other than those I've translated before? If possible, please let me know which Context its under, I'll look through again.
Thanks
Kenichi
I have found there is no 100% match between the IDE and the words and sentences to translate.
There are words on the TS file that do not appear on the IDE (at least not at that section).
By the way, do you have plans to translate the installer?
Hello inakic,
I found one way to help in the translation and to ensure the authenticity of the translated words is to use an existing IDE that's already in that language. One of the IDE I use as reference is NetBeans. I'm not sure about your case, though.
