This is really exciting because this new walking Penguin robot has double the number of ports, increasing the number of new applications significantly! With two versions of Penguins, they will be more valuable to collectors, more useful to students and schools and great for experimenting! I'm still experimenting with Penguins' Giant Hand!

    JohnR,

When you say 8 slots do you mean 4 pairs or 8 pairs?

8 pairs - as in 16 birds. As an update, we're down to 7 slots, or 7 pairs, or 14 birds. We're getting close! Let's fill the list!

Any excited people writing Penguin programs BEFORE their Penguins arrive?
Or making plans for Penguin projects?

    :)

Hey guys and gals - only 6 more left - lets fill the list!

Please also note that I will not be processing requests between 5:30 PM CST until about 9:00 PM at the earliest. Too bad they don't have green and gold penguins...

I got on the list yesterday but I am trying to find out how many are left so a friend of mine could still put in. When you say 6 left, do you mean 6 pairs or only 3 pairs. It makes it easier to understand if you make sure and put pairs with the number left.

Can't wait to get mine, are they going to ship after all slots are filled or are they going to start shipping tomorrow?

    Thanks
    Doug

Same as always, 6 left => 6 spaces/slots on the list, 6 pairs, 6 charities waiting for a donation, 12 penguins...

Hey guys and gals, it would be really great to come back to the computer after the game and find the list filled...

Still 6 left, as in pairs, slots, submissions, spaces on the list.

We now return to regularly scheduled (if a little giddy) processing of submissions.

Still 6 slots left on the list - That's six pairs, or twelve penguins. 6 waiting charities.

I'd really like the send the list to Ken tomorrow, and get the birds on their way!

Please send one anodizing kit and a clear Penguin so I can make mine gold.

Here is one possibility for color alterations of your penguins.

We're down to 5 left. That's 5 slots on the list (it's really all about list management), 5 pairs, 5 charities, or if you insist 10 penguins...

I figured spray paint would do the job. I was just adding a note of humor about the anodizing kit. Only 5 offers left? Wow!!! I think there's a mad rush to get these. I will post a note at the other site.

    Gang: Last Call!

We;ve still got the 5 slots/pairs/charities (10 Penguins) waiting on the list. If they are not filled by the time I get home and start the final allocation, we're going to close the list anyway, and make the balance avaiable at the UPE sows, not quite sure how yet, but that's the plan.

There are 5 charities waiting for your help!

    LAST CALL!

Actually, I'm having a bit of fun. For me, I have tunnel vision, and "It's all about the list!". I know exactly what 5 means, but I really do understand that others may not understand my laser focus on my personal view of the world.

    LET'S FILL THE LIST!

    WE DID IT!

Thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $10,000 to help those less fortunate than oursleves!

    THANK YOU!

I'll be doing a final allocation of colors (those with a color preference should be all "good" except for a few Red birds that I'll have to replace with another color) tonight when I get done at the day job.

I'll be sending out confirmations for last few submissions tonight, and also post the final tally of funds raised.

The e-mail account has been delted, and any further mail sent there will be "returned to sender".

    THANK YOU ALL!

I just wanted to thank everyone involved for this offer. I have one question though, (and this is not a complaint but a question)... Is the Penguine robot now discontinued? Is there not going to be any new robots (or newer versions sold)? Thanks

The Penguin, and Toddler before it, are walking robots from Ken Gracey. Ken can more effectively comment on the future of any new Penguin designs. I'm working from time to time on a Propeller Penguin version complete with 32 ports, speech synthesis, singing, sound, TV, and other features, - as this is a personal fun hobby project there is no completion deadline.

Well gang, "The List" is on its way to Ken. I know that he has a bunch of little birds ready to fly out the door.

We have raised a total of $12,449.93 for a number of worthy charities!

Thank you for making the donations, and making this project a "walk in the park" to help out with!

    John B;

Sorry, but we're all "closed up" on this offer, but...

There is an unsubstantiated rumor that there may be a VERY limted number of bird(s) available for auction at UPEW...

Lamretired: If you cannot make it to UPEW, mail order from Digi-Key is an option
i.e. if your not strapped for cash in any way!

I think the number available for auction at UPEW should be VERY VERY limited so that their might be another very limited number available for auction at UPEC and UPENE (for those of us that thought we'd be able to make UPEW this year but now it looks doubtful).
