@Ale...

    Thats a great shame...

    Have you tried K.L.M. IE:- BSL/MLH -> AMS -> NCL·(Newcastle) or BSL/MLH -> AMS -> MME(Teesside)

    (EDIT: No 'promo bums-on-seats' fares to make Teesside·{50 miles+}·worthwhile to overseas visitors. Stick with Newcastle)

    Or Air-France· BSL->CDG -> NCL

    Though, I still think your talking quite a lot of money for the above routing...

    Also... I believe, that because airlines are still on 'winter timetables', theres a fair chance you could fly with easyjet GVA-> NCL

    How accessible is Geneva for you?

    (EDIT: The Easyjet Geneva -> Newcastle direct flight, DOES still run until the end of March. Just checked....)

    Hey Graham,

    No, not this time. But we could launch a UPEUK - is there a better name:) - if you guys are interested for the Fall 2010. We'll need to talk with OBC about that - not sure if he's ready to fly across an ocean or not but we could ask him! We'd love to support a UK UPEUK, UPEE or UPEGB or whatever we want to name it.

    U PEUK doesn't sound too good.

    Or some of the others, come to think about it

    Quick couple of questions, as the time is now drawing near...

    Any more takers for this event?

    Which day are people more likely to attend, Sat. 13th / Sun 14th / Both?

    I will be there along with Baggers of course. (both days)

    Parallax have very kindly offered some 'promotional' products to help entice new users.... yeah.gif
    Hopefully they will arrive in time but we will have plenty of things to show.

    Coley

    Leon, you gonna be wearing your XMOS T-Shirt? tongue.gif

    Of course! Several XMOSers will be there, as well. Perhaps I ought to wear an XMOS T-shirt on Saturday and a Propeller one on Sunday, if I can get one. Or vice-versa.

    Can anyone recommend an hotel near the venue?

    TonyF - are you going to be bringing some PropLAB boards?
    Can you bring an extra one for me please (let me know how much they are), I have an friend I'm trying to get interested in Propeller and your board would be a good introduction for him.

    Leon - I can't recommend a hotel as it's been a long time since I last went to Newcastle but I am staying at the Holiday Inn, pretty reasonable rates for the standard you get.

    Regards,

    Coley

    @ Coley, would your friend like the last PropLAB v1.0? I can assemble it this week if required, (or bring a PCB with just the SD card fitted together with a Propeller chip if they like DIY). Special 'friend-of-Coley' Makerfaire discount = half price! Maybe your friend prefers to wait for PropLAB v1.1 which has an XBee socket? I hope to be bringing some PropLAB v1.1 PCBs - if there is a fair wind from China!

    Thanks, a V1.0 fully assembled will be great if you have time, then he can get straight into it.

    Leon, Holiday Inn and Jury's Inn are both pretty close to the Venue. I can recommend others if these are full.

    Sparkfun posted a picture of a young child soldering without safety glasses at a Maker Faire.· She was right on top of the soldering iron with her face being about seven inches away.

    I went to college with a lady who burned her eye in a college lab because students put safety glasses in their pocketbooks because they don't want to share or wear glasses that other people wear.· There weren't enough glasses to go along and she now has to wear contacts for the rest of her life because she burned her eye.

    Somehow they·Maker Faire thinks they are exempt from OSHA·requirements because it is a hobby?· ·I don't want to see any pictures posted that don't show safety glasses being used.

    Hei All,

    I cannot go :(. I have to be in the lab with the students on Fr & Mo. I'll try to make it for the Prop meeting Ken mentioned. Sorry :(
    I'll send Baggers the board as soon as I can finish it, some other tings got in the way.

    I made the mistake of promising to go home for the weekend for mothering Sunday, luckily home is York so I'll probably get my pass signed for Saturday and drive up.

    Hoping to bring something (that just needed a few more days work before Christmas)

    The gits at my work have stitched me up and put me "on call" this weekend. So all that creeping and crawling around HER was for nothing.

    I will have to see if I can invent a "fault" in the North East.

    @Coley and TonyD: I am very sorry but I cannot attend to the event. As you perhaps know I've broken the foot (http://forums.parallax.com/..., http://forums.parallax.com/...) and I am still on crutches.

    Yes, please !!!!!!! The name? Why not €uroPE (European Propeller Expo): if it's the only one european event and it's sponsored by Parallax we can remove the U (Unofficial IIRC) making it official. I think this will increase the number of participants

    PEDIT:·BTW the Newcastle location is a little bit unhappy: bad (NO) flight connections. For the next event may we choose a facility arround London (or Frankfurt - Germany - in the middle of Europe). Bigger cities are better connected: all small airports have flights to the big/capital cities one, but it is very uncommon to find a small to small direct flight
    (http://www.aeroporto.fvg.it/en/voli/voli_diretti.htm / http://www.lju-airport.si/vsebina.asp?IDM=13)

    P.S.: Tomorrow (ok, today because it's past midnight) I'll have RX and I'll know if I can start to load the foot. Pls cross fingers for me.

    I'm getting the 08:30 flight from Gatwick, arriving 09:55 in Newcastle, so I suppose I'll get to the town centre about 10:30. Can you suggest somewhere?

    My suggestion would be for people to enjoy the faire first then catch up in the afternoon. There's a couple of bars, Twist and the Baroness, in Times Square where the Centre of Life is located. Both serve food. If I remember Twist was the better of the two.

    I'm taking the wife and kids with me but I expect they'll get bored by the afternoon and head off shopping into Newcastle and leave me to my own devices.

    I'll PM you my mobile # if you want?
