yes and no. My bigger FPGA based RAM module with IDE interface directly connects to the LCD screen by connecting the screen instead of an IDE hard drive.

The modules I have built now though do not directly plug into the breakout but you can share a 16bit data bus with the LCD Screen allowing for 16bit colour from the prop using a few cheap glue logic ICs.

My AI Platform(hopefully coming out first quarter 2010) will have headers for my breakout board and my RAM modules. This platform will support double buffered high res bitmaps with many sprites. It is aimed at development of AI Games.

    ·mctrivia,

I placed my order back·on Oct 22 and also paid at the same time with paypal. I'm just a little curious as to when I might expect the board.

    mctrivia,

For awhile there I was looking at my credit card bills and did not see anything pertaining to your billing me thinking that I must have had one of those "moments" or there might have been a glitch when placing the order. Just looked at my Paypal today and spotted the transaction. I don't like to be pushy but was starting to wonder so that is why I posted.

glad you did. It took a while to get these made but I now have 8 fully assembled and tested boards all ready to ship and about 50 more that require only 10min work to be ready to ship. I thought I had all pre orders shipped a week ago.

In the new year I am going to have to work on a better ordering script so I can't miss orders again.

    Hi Mctrivia,

The boards look awesome and are of a sufficiently small footprint to fit into portable projects. Great work.

I tried manually soldering a connector that I have on other board, but my eyesight isn't that good anymore.

Are any of your completed boards still available?

How can I order some? I've looked at your various URL's and can't seem to find any link to a page.

    Much appreciated.

they are under breakout boards. Will upload a photo tomorrow to make easier to find and also so people can see.

Just a note. Price of the breakout board will be increassing on January 1st to $24.99. I still have lots in stock and though I am taking a 4 day weekend for Christmas I will still be shipping out quickly.

Is there a trick to plugging the flat cable into the connector? When I try, the cable just slips right back out.

What I'm doing: I raise the brown part of the connector, slide the cable in as far as it will go (which isn't very far), press the brown thing down, then watch the cable fall out.

is the cable upside down? pin 1 goes to the side with the back light driver circuit.

The white line should be at the edge of the tan connector. This line should be showing on the top side of the ribbon.

When the line is in place, you should snap down the brown pressure retainer.

Fortunately I have two boards. I tried the other and the cable slid right in. For some reason the first board's connector has a much tighter opening, but knowing how far in the cable is supposed to go, I was able to get it in finally.

    Now to wire it up!

Some of those connectors got a little toasty when we reworked them. They can be a little hard to get the ribbon in, and to snap close. I will claim responsibility for that.

my old test rig broke for these so I redesign to make it much stronger. my new design plugs into the gadget gangster platform and all wires are fixed within the rig so they do not move.

I have had one customer to whom I shipped directly have some inductors cracked on a couple of his boards.

If anyone receives any boards with broken or otherwise damaged parts, please let me know.

It was my fault the parts were damaged. I personally packaged them....so I am responsible.
