Looks like a few were not made correctly. hope that does not make it to difficult for you to assemble.

James has offered to send direct to anyone living in the United States if you want it sooner. If sent direct the board will not be duple checked.

If sent direct, will boards be at least single checked?

Well.....Matt and I will need to discuss how to handle this. Because I do not have a display, there is no way to test full functionality, which is the real test.

I'll make everyone a deal, if you get a board that doesn't function correctly because of the part placement (solder, bridges, etc.), I'll fix it for free.

    James L

If someone were to lend you a display, would you be willing to do a full test before shipping? I hate the idea of shipping boards over the border to Matt so he can check them and send them back over the border (seems so wasteful), but I do want to receive known-good boards.

Thanks for the progress update, btw.

Yes, I would be willing to test the full functionality of the display if someone would lend a display. I should note this will only be done for the people who prefer a direct shipment of the boards.

Is there a demo code for the display available? If so....I'll download it, and have it ready for testing.

    Ok...another update.

I just checked with the second stencil supplier. He stated, that the stencil will be cut tomorrow. So we are looking at next week before finished units can be shipped.

That gives us a few days to get some other assembly jobs out.

If someone can let us borrow a screen, we will be happy to do a full functional check on the ones direct from us.

Whereabouts are you, James? Maybe there's someone in your neighborhood with a screen.

Otherwise I'll consider mailing you one if there're enough people asking for direct shipment. So far all I know of is James Michael Huselton and maybe me.

Ha....I seriously doubt it. I am literally in the middle of no-where, in Central Alabama. Not a lot of "Techno geeks here". Not saying anything bad about Alabama....just the nature of my area.

I appreciate the offer. If there are not too many, I could just ohm the boards. That will not tell if they will function, but would give results for a partial test.

    Ray,

That would be great. That woul d prevent anyone from having to give up their screen for testing.

I figure a scratched screen will work just fine. If the touch part is not damaged.

    $9.99 for stripped assembled board
Does that mean PCB and flex connector only?

Also, what is the 6 pin part you are using for the backlight?

    Thanks Ray,

I hope the extra breakout boards help you sell those screens. I love to play with things even if they do have a scratch.

Thanks for going the extra mile,

    mctrivia,

Not sure who you were directly answering ( because of the comment on customs taking time - I am in Indiana , you are in California?)

You were obviously not answering me directly but you did answer my question. If you were answering me then we have a mix-up in addressing.

    Have a great day!!

We have the boards assembled, but the rework is going real slow. Since we used Kapton as a stencil, the apertures were not as small as really needed. All the boards came out the same. All parts were good except for the screen connector. It has solder bridges.

These boards are RoHS compliant, so the rework does take longer. We are leaving the bridges on the places that are connected anyway (on the pads which are invisible). They will not be very aesthetically pleasing, but should work fine.

I'm also trying to get time to wire up a test plug for the boards. I do not have a board that will directly fit the breakout, so I'll try to get to that tomorrow.

Next time a metal stencil will be used to insure no solder bridges on the connectors.
