Hey everybody,

Just noticed that this forum exceeded 100K posts!

If somebody can figure out who posted the 100,000th post in the Propeller Forum I'll send them some free hardware of their choice from Parallax.

Thank you for contributing so much to the other Propeller users, our customers, and to this company.

Sincerely,

I think this post is 100,010.

(now editing it, once I have it locked in Edits done, post valid!!)

Ok, I tried the forum search by date. Used a number of common words, hoping all the posts would hit on one. This is what I got:

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356733&g=356735#m356735 (this one)

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356734 ( 09 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356733 ( 08 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=281465&g=356730#m356730 ( 07 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356725 ( 06 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356663&g=356722#m356722 ( 05 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=355218&g=356715#m356715 ( 04 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=355658&g=356705#m356705 ( 03 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=355658&g=356702#m356702 ( 02 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356693 ( 01 )

http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=356462&g=356687#m356687 (100,000 THE WINNER!!)

At least that's what I think :)

My search criteria was:

By keyword, last 20 results, using any and all keywords.

Keywords used: and, with, the, I, that, think, there, spin, what, who, why, to

I looked at posts for common words and kept adding until the list stayed consistent across adds.

I'm fairly certain my post in the Visual Studio Shell thread was Propeller post 100003 because I looked after microcontrolled witnessed the count (100002).

As I see it for Propeller posts it was:

99,999 thetribster
100000 CounterRotatingProps
100001 jazzed
100002 microcontrolled
100003 jazzed (ya, I'm too chatty)

Okay then, we'll choose CounterRotatingProps! CounterRotatingProps: please let me know by PM how you would like to spend your $200 credit!

Same for you jazzed (Steve): you also receive a $200 credit. Let me know what you want to do with a credit.

Not sure of potatohead's approach, so we will award him a $50 credit. Only because I don't trust the search engine (I trust potatohead, however).

If there's confusion over the actual 100,000th poster we'll simply award the disputed party as well.

?

If we want to get technical, my link is a direct link to the winners post, the 100,000 post??? Or did I get it wrong?

And was made before potatoheads final edit.
(the potatoheads original post had no name in it at first, or link, actually it was an odd, kinda funny comment.)
It read like as if he was claiming the 100,000 post, and it had no link to any post, then was edited to contain the correct links.
If anyone disputes this, im sure the forum has proof.

I mean, technically.

Ken,

Wow it sure pays to be a Parallax customer :)

I respectfully request from the $200 credit you allocated to me
that you offer $50 credit to microcontrolled and $50 credit to BPM.
I'll email you regarding the other $100. Thanks.

Please distribute mine evenly among the winner(s).

I didn't think it would escalate so fast! What I tried to do was capture a moment in time, then figure stuff out. I'll leave that post as it stands, and say "Thanks Ken for the statement of trust and consideration!".

Edit: I had to step away for a quick impromptu meeting. Now several more posts have passed... I think I'll just leave the list I have and suggest that an examination of the active threads and timestamps, done quickly, is probably the best bet now.

I don't trust the forum search either. The same set of keywords, done just now, yielded different results throughout the period of time between my post (100,010) and the (100K post).

Arrgh!!

To summarize, Jazzed allocated his credit allocated accordingly: $50 microcontrolled; $50 credit to BPM; $100 to jazzed and potatohead redistributed his $50 among "the winners" above, which adds $12.50 to four winners.

This is what we end up with:

jazzed $112.50
BPM $62.50
microcontrolled $62.50
CounterRotatingProps: $212.50

The above winners should PM me regarding the use of their credits. Include shipping addresses too, please.

Sincerely,

Ken Gracey

Awe Shucks, I thought you were going to send someone a Quad Rover. I know that would be my choice if I had the chance ;^)

QuadRovers will soon become collector's robots. We have only 22 units left and we won't be making more in the future. The cost of manufacturing each robot, and including the engineering costs, works out to about $25K each. And we sell them for five thousand bucks. They're a fantastic robot with plenty of power and I plan on checking one (or two) out for my archive pretty soon. You can thank the R&D tax credit for the existence of QuadRovers.

We're in no hurry to see these robots out the door.

But I'm with ya on the request!

Schlumberger e-beam? You don't want that thing either.

Let's just say that it has a very demanding maintenance program to keep it alive. Cost of ownership is too high.

Think I better trim down my Propeller-based Pacemaker !

Funny, I had just noticed earlier today that the Prop Forum thread count was Spinning up, but had no idea I was walking through the door at that moment.

Thanks to everyone for figuring this out. And thanks Ken for your (and Parallax's) generousity !

You know, to most all of us a number like " 100_000 " :) is ordinary... a 100k resistor, a 100k bits per second, a 100k instructions per second ---
But a 100k + of thoughts and ideas, struggles and problem solving, shows how significant the Propeller is - but it really shows the loyality of the community here and the support that Parallax gives us.

OK folks, help me out here --- I do general electronics research ---·I've had my eye on the Prop Pro. Dev. Board for a while, but I'd love to hear your suggestions (in any direction of work). So...

If you won $212.50 in a Parallax contest, what products would be your must haves ?

cheers, and thanks so much!

My choice would be the Propeller Control Board (ala Quad Rover). Would like to get one of those before they go away.

OR.......

Apply it to the new Prop Scope. I think it will be about even with shipping.

@BPM: Yes sir, I've got a parallax oscope, but it hasn't kept the ventilating fan from running pretty often around here <G> --- actually, those are vacuum tubes smoking --- so if I put the scope on them, it would probably toast too :-P

@Saphiea: Greetings to you in Europe! Yes, the sensors are *very* tempting!

@Jim: "The new prop scope" --- ah, I keep seeing this mentioned in the forums, but haven't seen it in the store... is this not out yet, or are we talking about the USB Oscilloscope (pn 28014)?

Nice suggestions so far, please keep the ideas coming, thanks!

The forum is sooo full of awesome.. I know why I like hanging out here.

As for how to spend a credit with Parallax, here's my two cents.

Tell Ken to hold $50 of it toward the first run of PropII boards. :) :)

I would order the PPDB.· I have a PDB and use it every day for my internship.· I am currently working through the PE kit labs and am saving up for a PPDB.· My advisor was using the BS2 in the lab before I got there,·so after seeing·my PDB he wants to order one for the lab.· I'm trying to get both ordered though!
