I just happened across this article from the May 2009 issue of Circuit Cellar.
It describes the Propeller video generator for NTSC and VGA.

    Thanks, Bean. That's a great introductory read for the Propeller's video capabilities. (I really ought to subscribe to CCINK again.) I'm not sure I agree with the article's premise, though: "NTSC will soon be a thing of the past." Broadcast NTSC certainly will, but baseband NTSC still has a robust life ahead in the CCTV industry.

    Even broadcast NTSC may survive in less populated areas (if there's a business case versus satellite and the right politics). Plus, up here in Canada the transition cutoff isn't for another 2 years.

    Composite video and S-Video will survive for a long time... "good enough" for security cameras, and tons of existing VCR's & TV's that won't die for decades.

    I'm still have a few 1702/1802 monitors in my collection...
