Looks good on the schematic. I've been busy with the low tech part of the fireworks today. Had to build a new charcoal oven. (a sealed barrel with removeable end and and a paddle/crank to mix up the wood inside). And I have company coming out for a BBQ tonight so I will get to work updating the master tonight or tomorrow. Trying to get a lot of small things done that are required for the larger parts of the fireworks.

So while we were were having our bon fire and testing the new charcoal cooker, I remembered I had a 4" shell left over from last year. Wow, I really forgot how amazing some of our shells looked, Now I'm totally amped about getting all of this working. Anyway, going to start updating the master in the morning based on the new schematic and could have it ready tomorrow night if there are no other changes. It's raining here so will be a good day for drawing.

don't forget to use this foot print for connection to propmod.

sd card though will be on the other side.

Clock out is P29 in this version.

    Kwinn,
on the updated master schematic, you show pin 13 on the 595's going to ground, but on the datasheet pin 13 shows output enable, active low.· Does that mean we are making them always active by having it go to ground?· Also, you show series resistors on the lines coming from the prop, do I need them from the 595's to the drivers, also do they need pull downs as well?

The master console is coming along nicely. I think for the connection from the prop to the board, I am going to use M/F pins and just have the prop itself plug directly into the board.·

chaosgk the propmod I am seanding you has 2 rows of male pins on it. if you have 2 rows of female headers spaced the distance apart i show in the diagram you can just plug it strait into the board.

Good to know, I could only see one row in the picture, but I will plan on having it plug directly into the board as well. Was it a 4x2 or 5x2?

No also this replaces the devboard. It has eeprom programing header crystal and prop. All you need is to provide 3.3v

Oh, so I don't even need my propeller board? Damn that's nice.· Is all of the programming done on the laptop, transferred to the SD card and loaded to the prop from there?

That is the purpose of my propmod they give you a small drop in system for using the prop. You will need to add voltage regulators to get the 3.3v in.

chaosgk, pin 13 on the 595's go to ground so it is always enabled. The 595's should be powered from the 5V so we need the resistors between the prop and the 595's, but no resistors are needed between the 595's and the line drivers. No pull down resistors are required on the 595 outputs to the line drivers, but pulldowns on the prop line are needed.

Ok, just about done with the master, McTrivia, can you get me a schematic of what pins go to the audio out L/R from the prop mod?
Also, I have a spare cat5 jack on the board, you guys have any good use for that. I have 15 assigned to the slaves and 16 total ports, let me know if you think of something cool and useful to add to that port.

the propmod does not have the audio out. you need to add the circuit to 2 of the output pins. Will get you schematic soon.

I left P0 to P5 unused by my circuit so they could be used for the sd card and the audio. Looks like they are not all needed for that so there are extra pins there as well as from P15 to P27. I will need 2 (P26, P27) for the start/pause and reset buttons. Updated schematic coming shortly.

    Attached is the updated schematic.

chaosgk, you may want to put a 10 pin (2x5) header on the board for the status leds and switches so they can be mounted on the case and plugged in to the board. At the moment only 3 of the leds are used so the rest could be left out, but I would put in all the resistors (resistor network) on the board.

I currently have 10 lines routed for the external functions, Run/Pause/Reset/Status. I will move them into a 2x5 header tonight. I also have them as either being pullup or pull down depending on where I solder the resistor in place and each of those lines can be enabled by moving a jumper on the board.
I see you added the P26 and P27 pins with what looks to be 3.3v into each one with a series resistor (220 OHM?) I'm assuming when the switch is activated, it takes the pin low, otherwise it is high. I'm still learing so I like to know if I understand it correctly.

I am having a little trouble interpreting McTrivia's schematic on what I actually need to build into the master, can you clarify my part of it and what parts I need to order or scrounge for the audio side. I'm not the best at reading schematics unless I know what I'm looking for and th purpose of everything. Sorry for the hastle.

For audio you need the 4 caps and 2 resisters plus a audio jack

Pin 26/27 have pullup resistors, and 10K or near that value is fine.

Is this the PS only on the schematic with the 3 capacitors, 2 resistors and what is L1? I Feel really dumb for not seeing how it's supposed to be setup. Where are the connections to the prop for the audio? This has to be easy, I just can't seem to get a understanding of it.

That is the internal schematic of the propmod. You don't wire any of that

I sent you an sd version so the ps is not populated on the board.

mctrivia, I think he is referring to the audio out. I have attached the diagram you sent earlier with the required components boxed in yellow. I used P4/P5 as the prop pins for it. Can you confirm that the two filter capacitors should be 10nF.

Ok, so if I read this correctly, I have 10k resistors coming in on the p4 and p5 lines with a 10nf capacitor between them and the ground, then from the p4 and p5, there is a 1uf capacitor in series that will go out to my audio jacks with the other connection to the audio jacks going to ground? My mixer board inputs are pre-amp imputs so I don't need the headphone amp part of it. Does that sound about right?

You guys come up with anything good to use that spare cat5 jack for on the master console? My 74hc595 chips came in today, all 10 of them (ordered 5, but got 10) so if there is a use for those, I have them. The rest of the parts should be showing up this week and then it's time to start soldering. The rework on the CNC should be done tonight so it will be more accurate and ready to drill by this weekend.
