PMB-648 not syncing to sats
I've read many of the threads about this. I have an old PMB-648 and it will not sync. The unit has a solid 5 volts, close to 5.22 if the meter is trusted. Its been outside for about 25 minutes and is still flashing. The device used to work well. Its been off for a couple of years since it was used. Is there any reason… -

PMB-648 not sure if it's defective
I purchased a PMB-648 off of Amazon the other day because it was cheap and did NMEA. The claim on Amazon and on the packaging is that I can change the baud rate. I've scoured the internet for the past three days. I've tried Sirfdemo, gpsinfo, direct connection via FTDI. No matter what commands I send it with and without… -
Question About PMB-648 GPS
In this thread Ken Gracey recommended trying the C code for the new GPS on the PMB-648. However, the PMB-648 only uses the Yellow wire for Tx. The PAM-7Q uses both Rx and Tx. So, which wire on the PMB-648 is considered Rx? I only ask because in the tutorial for the PMB-648 it states to go by the wire color, not the… -
PMB-648 GPS object in one cog
Hi all, I'm working on integrating the PMB-648 into the Eddie robot that I am working on. I originally was going to use a second Prop to interface with any additional electronics that I add, but the Python program running on Eddie's laptop cannot handle a second serial port (under powered CPU on the laptop and very… -
Help: PMB-648 SiRF GPS Module
Hi friends, I have been scouring the internet for quite a few hours now (~10 hours to be exact) looking for a direction to coding the PMB-648 GPS module using SimpleIDE with the Parallax propeller board. I can't seem to figure out the direction I am supposed to take to use the GPS. We are making a robot for the… -
Not getting data from PMB-648 SIRF using Arduino
I am trying to use a Parallax GPS with an Arduino Nano, and I am not receiving any data from it when running the test program on the Parallax site. I have the red wire connected to 5V, the black wire connected to GND, and the yellow wire connected to D6. The program runs properly, but it hangs at "Reading GPS" and does not… -
GPS module - Serial Voltage?
I want to connect the GPS Module PMB-648-SiRF to my Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi can only receive signals at a max of 3.3 volts. From what I gathered about this module, the GPS module uses a UART TTL serial port, and I have read that UART TTL sends signals at 0 and 5 volts. Can you confirm whether the GPS module is… -
PMB-648 Altitude reading accuracy
Does anyone have any insight as to why the altitude data varies so greatly using the PMB-648 GPS module? Over the last couple of days it has returned values ranging from 177 meters to 209 meters while sitting on my desk. I know that data comes from GCA sentence.
