  The chip you referenced has drain only outputs. Will that work with the lcd?

  I think that the outputs would have to be pulled high. Ill look over the link.

  You could go even simpler than this with just a plain old shift register.

  If you can burn PIC chips I also have code for a serial LCD on an 8-pin PIC.

  I can burn PIC Chips could you shoot me over the code. I think it would help me learn a great deal.
