I want some of you input on using this chip as just the data lines on a 2x20 display.

I am toying with the idea to make my parallel display somewhat serial by using the I2C method. Any thoughts?
My display would still require me to use the RW, RS and E lines but using the I2C chip I could free up 6 I/O pins on the propeller.

The chip you referenced has drain only outputs. Will that work with the lcd?

I think that the outputs would have to be pulled high. Ill look over the link.

If you can burn PIC chips I also have code for a serial LCD on an 8-pin PIC.
