Yes, not that easy... the serial interface was already changed a couple of times and every time is a pain because a fix on a place breaks something elsewhere, I need to investigate more on the issue.
In the meantime, keep the terminal open.
Also, if you can try with a prop-plug, you are not the first to use Spin Tools with a Mac and AFAIK others don't have this problem but I guess are using a prop-plug.
