Powering up a Javelin Stamp

  • Good!

Looks like the the Javelin is sound hardware wise.

The resetting MAY be a hardware connection problem. These PDB's and Javelins are getting kind of old.

Try cleaning Javelin pins with an eraser and putting it back in.

Call support with it connected and editor open and have them guide you through editor problem.

Might want to reinstall editor in the meantime and try it. Make sure it is not corrupted, scrambled.

    Happy holidays!
  • If only VS17 could edit the old IDE. Being a licensed published product at one point, I cannot take apart and repair/modify any code inside the IDE. It would be useful for those out there who know how the thing works.

    Awesome Cronk

I reinstalled Javelin Editor. The download from Parallax website. Version 2.0.3 Build 0

Connected up Stamp PDB. Used Parallax Serial to USB adapter.

With Stamp BS2 module. Don't have a Javelin module yet.

Used Identify. It got stuck on scanning Debug window open.

Got messages in Output window below editor window.

Are you using a Parallax to USB adapter?

    Have you tried Test Connection?

Here is screenshot of Output Window in editor.

Ignore last two messages at bottom. They were after turning board off.
  • IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Does not work on BOE USB Rev. D.

  • Great!

How did you get it to work?

"Does not work on BOE USB Rev. D. "

Might be the USB driver for the Serial to USB driver works with Javelin IDE but the driver for full USB connection does not.

Is it showing you a port but not reading Javelin?

I had the javelin backwards again. Once oriented correctly, it worked on PDB. When attempting to use BOE, I get the error that the serial port was null.

edit: My serial port might be null because COM 3 is not my BOE. It is my adapter. Will try BOE again later with it’s own COM port.

The BOE is made to work with the Basic Stamp Editor.

When you install the editor it installs the USB driver.

Looks like there might be a conflict between the Javelin editor driver and the Basic Stamp editor driver.

Maybe Javelin only works with serial port BOE. If there was one.

You will just have to keep at it.
  • Gonna mark this one down in history as a success.

And they do exist. That's what I use here. Also with the USB to serial adapter that I bought for talking to the Stamp One to serial adapter.
