    Thanks BPM!

Lucky for me, the display wasn't damaged. After connection the display to the LPT (http://www.scienceprog.com/connect-nokia-3310-lcd-to-lpt-port/) I've tested my display.
During the reconnect to the BS2, I found out that I forgot to put a 100nf capacitor between connector labeled VOUT, and GND!! After putting the capacitor in place it worked.

Anyway, thanks for the quick help.

Hey, I'm new here, but not to stamps. I have been looking for a cheap LCD for a while and I think this is it. Are you still selling the LCD's? If so, I am interested in one or two of them. I live in Southern California, so could you give me an estimate on shipping costs too?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Dan, I have purchased 1 of these and they seem to be mutch better than the ebay units that I have purchased. They don't cost much and they ship from SoCal.

That lcd is a character lcd, and only 2 lines.

The lcd that this post is based on is a true 48x84, Small Graphic LCD w LED backlight.

Also the code, schematics will not work with the lcd you linked to Capt. Quirk.
Actually, other than to make someone else money,
there is no reason why you posted a link to a display that isn't at all like the GRAPHIC lcd I posted, or even the same chip.
    Perhaps i am missing something.

But anyway, I am digging up this old thread to inform others that I plan to port this code over to spin and redo the schematic, now that my cpu is running at 3.3v , i can directly connect the lcd to the propeller.

These phones can still be purchased, and the lcds can still be found.

The benefit of these displays is that they are serial, simple to program, and display graphics, not just a character lcd.

Bought module from ebay, wired according to schematics, it does not work. Checked with scope, all signals are delivered as they should. What else can be reason?

The HD44780 had a peculiar chip-enable that was active high, which sometimes caused initial confusion. Other than that I've got nothing. Does the eBay vendor seem reputable? One hopes that the module has been properly handled and isn't the residue of a failed project.

I forgot to put this in my schematic.

    Are you using a BS2?

Yes, using BS2 and "stamps in class" board.
