Request for P2 photos of all types for propeller.parallax.com web site

Hey all,

Don't bother going to the link just yet - there's nothing there. We are creating an official home for the Propeller 2 (and 1). It is necessary for us to support each of our customer types somewhat separately, so www.parallax.com will remain education and propeller.parallax.com will be used for the Propeller. The parallax.com site will have prominent links to propeller.parallax.com site.

Like the P2 design itself, the web site will be built from a number of community contributors (you).

I'm looking for photos to use on this site - anything you've taken of the P2 chips, evaluation board, applications, technical drawings. They will likely be background images. Rich Harman?

Please share what you've got to kgracey@parallax.com. I can download from wherever, of course. Higher resolution is best because it gives us more flexibility over their use.

Perfect, Lachlan. Send me the original, please. It'll make a good post about community involvement, testing and characterization efforts. More photos like this one are appreciated. Any pictures or screen shots of tools, programming code, applications (did I see a Space Invaders game somewhere?) are also good.

You guys are making this job a lot easier for us. The Parallax team has pushed hard to fuel this project and we appreciate the direct support you also give us in this form.

There's something strange about that image. The hot spot is too far off-centre to be correct. Same for the eight mounting holes, their outlines don't align with the eight round cold spots.

The camera must have two imaging sensors.

EDIT: And there is a scaling discrepancy too. The details at the top-left of the image are more closely matched than at the bottom-right.

Quote correct - without the normal camera you'd see no detail at all, combining the two is
pretty standard way round this. The parallax is (no pun intended) unavoidable.

The attached Youtube video shows some of the first motion with my P2-EVAL controlling a small 5 axis CNC machine.

The software is "Running" a full six axis with multi-stage ramping but I only have the XYZ motors hooked up for now. I'm currently using multi-stage linear ramping, but I'm working on what I hope to be a smooth "S" ramp profile soon.

My machine is old and cranky and been sitting in the weather for a couple of years so it doesn't move very fast. ( I'm surprised it't still working at all.) I've got some fairly large delays in the pulse timing, but it looks like I can hit a couple million pulses per second fairly easily in full linear interpolative motion. I'm looking forward to using the cordic instructions for circular interpolation but I wanted to show what I have so far.

Not photo related - but can you ask someone to update the Catalina description on the propeller.parallax.com website?

It currently says "Catalina - P2 C Compiler/linker by RossH"

Could you amend that to "Catalina - P1 and P2 C Compiler/linker by Ross Higson"

I will make up a new P2D2 on Monday when the new chips arrive. I can post some photos then driving various devices. The dev board will be the following week and that connects up to so many things that it should make for some interesting photos.

We have a Nikon 3D X-ray inspection scanner at work. I might be able to talk the operator into scanning my P2 eval board if that would be of interest... although I think it would mostly just show the pads on the chip.
