BS2 - Serial Out (Sout) Polarity

Can the Sout (physical PIN 1) polarity be changed with the SEROUT command? I know there is a line driver that inverts the signal between the microprocessor and the Sout pin but I am sending this to another device that needs the polarity changed. I have tried SEROUT 16, 16780, [data] and SEROUT 16, 396, [data] but on my scope the polarity of the Sout is identical. I have checked also directly on physical pin 1 of the Parallax custom PIC16F chip and it doesnt change. If I try this on any other pin P0-P15 then the commands do work to flip polarity. Is the Basic Stamp designed to only have the Sout polarity fixed?

You will need a hardware solution for Pin 1.
