no. I want the robot to draw the car when a certain pattern is covered on the sensors.

See this tutorial for the S3. This uses the reset button count -

The Spin code generated by BlocklyProp could get you started.
If you want to use on of the ambient light sensors - see

BlocklyProp will work with the S2 and you can look at all the tutorials on learn.parallax.com - features peculiar to the S3 will not work (of course).
