Polling MultiDrop RS485 Network

Hi,
I'm considering using a Basic Stamp to perform the role of MASTER on an 2 wire (Half Duplex) RS485 network with 4 Slave devices. I then want to combine the results from the polling of each device into a single RS232 sentence for output, then restart the polling process again.

I'm a complete newbie to the BASIC STAMP so am not too sure of its abilities/restrictions. Has anyone out there tried anything similar or have any advice on implementing something like this?

I don't remember which article number (or issue), but there was a Nuts and Volts article about multi-drop networking with a BASIC Stamp 2. The PDF should be available on our website in the downloads section.

One of those...I remember researching this for an alarm system I built which had a similar setup.
