Potatohead and tonyp12 are my go-to sources for computer recommendations for power & performance. The OP presents the rare case where power isn't the primary concern, just reliability & value. Given the astounding array of choices, it probably just comes down to recommendations based on preference and personal experience.
Gb large. On my home fiber, not an issue. Many places in the US have crappy upload. True where the machines are.
IP is a worry too. Largely unfounded IMHO.
Interactive graphics is the primary issue. So far, the acceptable ones cost a lot more and still do not deliver as well as the desktop does. High end 3D CAD users are demanding, and are latency sensitive.
The reality of recommend a computer gets one only so far. The actual packaging of the product in your marketplace can result in something entirely different.
It seems that the Asus Mini UN42 and UN62 can come is multiple ways with different price points. Some are bundled with Windows some are 'barebones'; some may have 4 USB, others may have 2 USB; so may have wifi on board, others may not.
Since I am in Taiwan, it is pointless for me to recommend a particular deal as your marketplace just is entirely differed. I can't buy the GigaByte BRIC in my market, and I can't buy every configuration of the Asus Mini UN42.
We are all being driven to mis-information by marketing buzz that is intentional. In some cases, a particular vendor has the best deals. You might take a look at what EggHead has available -- but I can't even look at the EggHead website in Taiwan as they have blocked viewers outside their regional demographics.
Opps- EggHead went bankrupt and didn't tell me. I guess you will just have to go with NewEgg which I can also shop. I guess that just shows how hard it is to use the Internet to price a 'best bargin'. We are being driven like sheep.
