Email from Parallax says usernames can not be changed. We will put this to bed and delete the thread.
Uh... I beg to differ lol. Bump emailed me back just a little while ago and said that they used to do it, but only for cases like mine, where someone is looking for more professionalism. He also noted there would be some restrictions, and only then asked what it was I wanted - making no promise that I would get it.
Long story short, they'll do it, but only with good reason and a good username.
I had a similar email. It's going to be on a case by case basis. Of course the more prominent members would probably get special considerations, but it is not something everyone can do. I'll leave this up for one more day, and take it down tomorrow.
I think it should be a perk. Any forum member should be able to get a name change, but the number of times it can be done could be limited. Every 2000 posts or so, yeah. That sounds good.
There are now many posts where someone hit the "quote" button on a post of mine which still reference some user named "SwimDude0614". It may cause confusion for anyone that doesn't recognize DavidZemon and SwimDude0614 as the same person.
Just something to keep in mind before requesting a change.

Watch for spud soon!
Why do you want to take this down? It's useful info with some funny bits.

(remember, some of us have shorter memories than others)
It is good info if you ever get in a bind with your current name.
