    Too_Many_Tools,

Not so fast there. Manufacturers don't operate in a vacuum. They have a government to deal with. And as this is a democracy that is the peoples fault. And as you are a people it's partially your fault.

The costs of employing anyone to do anything are astronomical now a days. So many things to consider. Taxes, health care, rent, insurance, safety regulations. God knows what. That's before you think about what few cents are left to put in the workers pocket.

If all that makes employing people local impossibly expensive, i.e. nobody will buy your product at the resulting price. What are you supposed to do. Give up? Close down the company and join the unemployment statistics like every one else? Or take your business somewhere where you can actually get things done?

Don't forget, in the words of the great John Lydon in the Public Image Limited song "This is not a love song":

"This is not a love song....big business is very wise. I'm inside free enterprise..."

Or, would you like a command economy like the good old communist USSR? That's always an option.

Quality sells...Germany/Japan have NO problem selling quality products.

Excuses are what companies sell...like in this article. I should mention that my comments are not directed towards the OP...I welcome the posting of the article and this discussion...long overdue in engineering circles.

Please remember to avoid going too far into topics such as religion or politics on this forum. I have seen both now appear in this thread. The Forum Guidelines are linked again below for your reference.

    Thank you.

    @Courtney!

You are right In your decision but too early. As Engineers we sometimes need to face reality. Since usually nobody understand what we are talking about we need to do this in a familiar place. Like the Parallax Forum. Where else you find smart people with interests in the same field?

NOT communicating is way more worse than that.

    Enjoy!

Please remember to avoid going too far...

Maybe there oughta be a members-only sub forum titled Crotchety Old Men Gripe About the World. Lately it seems like a lot of General posts here have been degenerating into something of that sort.

    +1: We need a "LIKE" button !

I tried to inject some levity back in posts #22 & #24, but it didn't take.

I'll try to remember not to use negative words in my posts' titles from now on.

OK, one last shot: Obama and a rabbi walk into a bar... now that's really verboten, per Courtney. Then there's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlIrI80og8c

Courtney is right. I don't generally read every thread so I sometimes miss things like this until it is brought to my attention. Regardless of the type of people here these forums are not the right venue to debate religion or politics. In these subjects it is nearly impossible not to offend someone and there's nothing useful to our member base as a whole by having these debates. There must be forums just for this sort of thing but the Parallax Support / Discussion forums are not it. Please remember we have a very broad audience here including people / schools of various types and religions. They come here looking for education, assistance or knowledge about our microcontrollers, robotics and the things that are related. Please try to remain on topic when possible and limit discussion in the non-topic forums to things that aren't likely to be offensive to someone else on a personal level.

Discussing the unemployment situation is one thing, but as soon as it turns to pointing fingers at who is responsible, it immediately becomes a political debate.
