Hint...hint..a certain well known company could make some quick money by having a sale on its Quickstart related accessories to capitalize on the RS Quickstart sell off. ;<)

That or at least fix the link on the product page that points to the compatible boards. "Compatible Boards and Add-On Modules from Propeller Powered" goes to a 404, then when you click the return to the home page on the 404 it goes to a we moved to Tindie.com, so then you click "Enter Store" and you get yet another 404. So seems like you can't win. Was just wondering what add-on boards were out there but looks like just a Human Interface and Proto board.

I think PropellerPowered was started up by Jeff (Oldbitcollector) and is not actually part of Parallax. Maybe he is no longer running that business...

The link in his forum signature does not work either. http://www.propellerpowered.us/

Okay thanks. Looks like there are three boards I can find, The Human Interface, Proto and W5200 WizNet board. Any others?

Jeff moved his site to tindie.com: https://www.tindie.com/stores/Propellerpowered/
looks like just a Human Interface and Proto board.
IIRC, Tonyp12 and others have some cool QS add ons also.

    EDIT: Here's a link to a search of tonyp12 Quickstart: http://forums.parallax.com/search.php?searchid=1784795

The tonyp12 link doesn't work. Maybe searches are temporary so a link to them doesn't persist.

I created a search link that works for me but I bet it won't work for you http://forums.parallax.com/search.php?searchid=1784813

I think searchid=nnnnnnn type links are associated with a particular forum member

I think you are correct. Yours did not work for me either. I just did a search for Quickstart under username tonyp12 and it came up with his QS add ons.

Starting today, Radio Shack is putting the quick start board on clearence for $19.97. This will be available for stock on hand at each store.
    Jim

One of two left at the RadioShack on Estrella Pkwy in Arizona. Also one Ping at $9.99 left. Passed on that.... Almost picked up a raspberry pi kit they had, but just to much to do right now.....

How much were the RasPi kits? The girl in my RS mentioned they were getting them but no prices visible. I can't imagine it 's a good value unless you can't wait 2 or 3 days for priority mail.

Maybe they just don't want to make money selling Propeller products....

This is the one they had at my RS:
    http://www.makershed.com/Raspberry_Pi_Starter_Kit_p/msrpik.htm

Price was the same as the link above.
The reviews are mixed based on the quality of the extras in the kit.

FWIW..a review of 11 Quickstart boards at local RS stores indicate they are all Rev. A versions.

$129.00 Maker kit w/ bunch of parts and such. Also nice enclosure..... Still tempting in hand vs mail order/online...... Yep, post 45 shows the kit..

I picked up one QuickStart this weekend at my local Radio Shack and left 1 since I've already overextended my electronic hobby budget for the month.

Picked up the QuickStart rev A, Ping rev B, and a PIR rev B for $34.91 + tax. Saved almost $39 after tax (7%)

What retail stores carry the Rev. B board?

So why no answers to the Quickstart questions?

Does not support USB charging specification, so it can only be powered from a computers USB port, not a USB charger

Sorry, question from the Rookie. Seriously there's only the PC option to power a REV A Quickstart Board? Also assuming that the Human Interface Board works for both Rev A and B.

I think Radio Shack did a large bulk buy befor the Rev B came out. You might want to try MicroCenter or Fry's to see if they have newer stock.

You can use Pin 40 (Vin) and Pin 39 (Vss) to supply 4-9 volt unregulated DC to power the boar.

I have run the HIB with and without the Memory card just fine on my Rev. A

    Thanks for the response.

I am traveling so I can't check right now...which is why I was asking the question here assuming others have ready access to MicroCenter and Frys.

Does anyone KNOW when Rev. B was released?

    Jim,

Thanks for the heads up regarding this deal.

Even though it was almost 2 weeks before I had enough reasons to head into town I was still able to find 4 of these boards.

The second closest town I called had two of them. I had them check the third closest town and for 5 miles more travel I was able to get another 2 of them.

Being able to go into a Radio Shack and get a great deal on something that will be very useful to me brought back lots of fond memories and I especially thank you for that.

    Thank You.

You just answered two questions that were on my mind before I had a chance to ask them.

    Gotta' love this site.

Sweet! Found two at my local shack.
I asked the RS dude if their parrallax gear was on sale; he answers "you mean like those rasberry pi things?"
To their credit, he did understand "rca coupler" well enough. But they were out of stock. Umm ok!?

A week later..still no answer on the company support forum for a simple question..."When was Rev B released?"

    TMT:

The updated schematic is dated 4/17/13. But why does the release date matter so much to you? Are you contemplating canvassing the country for a Rev.B?
