Not a surprise at all. I've recently refused large replenishment orders for QuickStarts and tried to restock them with Propeller Activity Boards. The Propeller Activity Boards would only be accepted for store stocking if I took back the QuickStarts. As a result, there are 9,700 QuickStarts in stores, to be sold out very quickly at this price.

This outcome is fully expected - get a handful today!

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought one at the 99 Summer Street location in Boston. They didn't have the new price up, but it scanned at 19.97 at the checkout.

Yesterday I bought a Schmart board for $14 to practice some SMT soldering.

If the Store you go to is out of stock, ask them to use the product information portal and locate the inventory in other stores.

That's a smart move Ken. The Activity board offers so much more functionality.
Just the fact that it has a small breadboard will be a boon to beginners.

@Bean: I wasn't very clear above, but RS didn't accept the Propeller Activity Board for the stores.

I love the cool little slide boxes and antistatic bags that come with QuickStart boards purchased from Parallax. But that didn't stop me from picking up a couple at RS yesterday. (Thanks Jim!)

Our closest RS has some sort of management problem...the youthful morning clerk stumbles in whenever he can drag himself out of bed. It's not unusual for the store to open 1/2 hr late. So I went to a much more dependable and well-run RS a few miles away. The discounted price was already posted and they had several in stock.

That's what the sales guy said at RS when I asked him where they were located in the store. Once I told him it is something like an Arduino he pointed me to the right area. I picked up two of them.

    Around 9700 boards?

How many of them are RevA ?
Buy RevB if at all possible.

Picked up one last night. Interesting choice for the deal of the day today on Parallax's website. LOL. Whats the difference between Rev A and Rev B? The one I got is a Rev A.

    Hello!
    I can well imagine.

Periodically those stores will go on a deep discount dive and do that to large amounts of everything appropriate in their stores. Everything Parallax that is. Last year it was the LCD display I use that had its turn.

Naturally when I bought it, the clerk said, that I was the first person in her store to actually buy anything from that aisle.

Hi, I just wanted to clarify Rev A/B.

Rev A works, although it can be a pain because it spits bogus characters if the TX P30 is not an output or pulled-up. Rev B doesn't have that problem.

Looks like the RS ones will be A, during the last clearance the RS on the other side of town had only 1 Quick Start board and now has 4 Rev A boards that they guy said just arrive two weeks ago.

Both Radio Shacks I went to had rev A boards as well, but at that price I can live with it. I also scored two Ping))) sensors for $10 each. I greatly prefer them over the clones as I find their readings are more stable, and the LED indicator is useful.

I looked for a Ping at a different RS with no luck, but they had several QuickStarts, so I picked up a third one. I showed restraint and left 3 on the wall...

$10 Ping))) sensors? I'm going to contact RadioShack and see if they'll sell me 5,000 units. That's a great price, lower than our cost too!

Looks like Radio Shack has adopted my investing philosophy - buy high and sell low

Now, that would uncover the root of their problems if they go for that deal!

    Go for it!!

Hint...hint..a certain well known company could make some quick money by having a sale on its Quickstart related accessories to capitalize on the RS Quickstart sell off. ;<)

When did the Rev. B occur?

Did RS get any B boards?

All I have seen are rev A boards.
